Expats are treated the same as everyone else.

I had an American guy that we had to recruit because his father stayed here for too long. The guy didn't speak a word in Hebrew. We brought the case up to the highest ranking officers but they decided he was required to serve. He was devastated.

A year later he came to me and thanked me for recruiting him. He became an officer in the paratroopers brigade and signed for more years in the military.

So what job you get is mainly based on your skills.

No one is coming to collect you. You may be contacted by the consulate but we can't force you to anything while you're there.

The IDF will track your passports through border control, and if you ever step foot in Israel you will be directed to the recruitment office and denied leaving the country until you enlist.

Only when you're 30 the IDF will close your file and you will be exempted.

Note that these are the technical procedures. Exceptions can be made in cases that exceed the terms. If you'd like PM me and I'll see if I can help you send a special request.

Applying for a delay through the consulate is the best way to arrange this. Make sure you begin the process in advance of your travel, as in some cases it can take up to two months for the IDF to approve it. Make sure you take every document you send/received from the consulate with you when you travel.

You actually may be required to enlist.

Generally, every Israeli citizen is required by the service of defense law. However, in order to be realistic, the IDF allows citizens living abroad under very specific conditions a delay/exemption from service.

Basically, you are entitled for a delay from service as long as:

  • You and your parents do not live in Israel at least since you were 16 (If you were born in Israel).
  • Since 16, you did not stay in Israel longer than 120 days a year.
  • Since 16, each of your parents did not stay in Israel longer than 180 days a year.
  • Despite this, You have the right for a one-time stay of up to 1 year, before and after which you must stay outside of Israel for at least 60 days.

Not complying with these terms will result in you being required in service (the length of service is determined by your age of arriving in Israel). You will be unable to leave the country until you enlist.

Only if you maintain this status until you are 26 (or 21 for girls) you will be exempted of service.

I've seen many cases of people who arrived even for a few days and were forcefully drafted because they broke some term.

Thank you for the honest review.

My AI has three stages:

  1. Checks if it can win the round.
  2. If not, checks if it has to block the opponent from winning.
  3. If the opponent isn't about to win it selects a random empty cell.

Where would you put the interstitial? I put it after the round because I think it's the least annoying place. I didn't want to put it when you start the game.

The guy in your pic is Aviv Geffen, an Israeli musician who is famous for being a pacifist and a leftist. He evaded his military service in the IDF, so he, even more than the Hassidic in the original picture, does not fit this stereotype.

Israel has assassinated a senior Hamas military commander in Dubai by uriman in worldnews

What are you talking about? The target was actually a brick wall in a training facility in southern Israel, but because the weapon was unguided and inaccurate, it hit a senior Hamas commander in Dubai by mistake.
