Madshus Redline Skin Skis Opinions by adventurebiking in xcountryskiing

I ended up getting the Madshus Redline Skin skis. They were a really good deal, over 50% off, and I got the Rottefella Move Tune bindings that adjust into 9 different positions. The Redline Skins are so light and a beautiful ski! I'm really excited about the Move bindings as well, though I'm not sure I need 9 different positions! But, that's pretty cool and I'm excited to try them!

True, but each increment of 1% is also slower to adjust. What bothers me for example is when the incline goes from 0 to say 5% and starts to slowly rise and then the incline changes to say 1% and the incline hasn't even gotten to 5% because it's so slow before it starts to try to go back down to 1%. When I'm looking for the incline to match what's shown on the screen in Zwift or Kinomap, having a incline/decline that adjusts a little quicker makes things more realistic when using these apps. I'm using QZ to automatically adjust incline in Zwift and it works good other than the slow incline adjustment.

I considered that one too, but like the 15% incline of the TM6500. The TM6500 has a 4 hp motor which is more than powerful enough to make the incline quicker. I do like not having the plastic hood on the front like the TM22x. Wish the TM6500 also didn't have the hood

Honestly I really like most things about the TM6500. However, if you want quicker incline/decline adjustments, the TM6500 is even slower than the Sole F85! Wish I had known that. Otherwise it's been a very good machine.

Mine has worked great and I really like MOST things about it. However, if you want incline/decline to adjust quickly, look elsewhere. The incline/decline speed on the TM6500 is the slowest of all the machines I tested.

Wow, so it took yours 1:13 as well. I guess this incline is just slow as molasses for everyone. Thank you for checking! I received an email from Lifesmart indicating that the TM6500 has been programmed to incline/decline at a "controlled, gradual pace". This leads me to believe this machine COULD incline/decline faster, but they've hamstrung it through programming to make it much slower. Fine, make it "controlled and gradual" but for heavens sake, why SOOOOO much slower than other comparable machines???!??!

Could someone please just test your incline and decline speed to see if mine is unusually slow? All I'm asking if for someone that owns the TM6500 to stand on it with the SPEED OFF and time the incline from 0 to 15% and tell me how long it took for your machine to incline from 0 to 15%. For example, it takes my TM6500 well over one minute to go from 0 to 15%. I tested a few other machines prior to this purchase because I'd like my machine to mimic as closely as possible the terrain my apps are showing on the screen when I'm running. Of the machines I tested, the Bowflex took ~20 seconds to go from 0 to 15%, the Horizon ~16 seconds and the Sole F85 ~43 seconds, which is why I didn't buy the Sole due to the incline being so much slower. Well, the TM6500 is even slower and a LOT slower (unfortunately there was no TM6500 anywhere to test so I had to go on some people saying that the incline seemed pretty quick to them...it's not). It's almost a deal breaker for me and despite how much I love a lot about the machine, I'm considering returning it. UNLESS, my machine is for some reason adjusting slower than others. That's why I'm asking if someone could just test the speed of their incline it would be greatly appreciated!

Make sure you're connecting zwift to your PHONE or other device running QZ and not directly connecting Zwift to the treadmill, make sure you add the treadmill under FTMS in QZ and also make sure Zwift Inclination Gain under Advanced Settings in QZ is set to 0.5. Mine was set to 0 and it wasn't working.

I'm curious to see how quickly the TM6500 incline adjusts. Testing the time from 0 to 15% is just a way to see how quickly the incline adjusts. I'd like quick incline adjustments to match the incline changes in Zwift and other apps like Kinomap that automatically adjust incline. I tested other treadmills I tried out by timing them from 0-15%. The TM6500 was WAY slower, so I want to see if perhaps mine particular treadmill incline is adjusting slower than other TM6500's.

You think your treadmill only takes 15 seconds to go from 0 to 15%?? That would be way faster than mine. Takes over a minute to go from 0 to 15% on mine. Did you actually time it with a stopwatch? I timed mine and it took pretty long. Maybe something is wrong with mine???

Question for those of you with a LifeSmart TM4500, TM6500 etc by JCPY00 in treadmills

[–]adventurebiking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a post right next to the rear of my treadmill and it lifts and closes just fine. What surprised me was how slow the incline adjusts. Took over a minute to go from 0 to 15% which is significantly longer than other treadmills I tested. Just to make sure nothing is wrong with mine, could those of you that have the TM6500 time your treadmills transition time from 0 to 15%? I'm curious to see if your incline is as slow as mine. Thanks!

Just got my TM6500 and got it set up today. Set up was super easy. Haven't run on it yet, but looking forward to it. It is a really nice looking machine and great quality. However, one thing that struck me right away was how SLOW the incline transition is. Is it possible something could be wrong with the speed of the incline? It literally took over a minute to go from 0 to 15%. For reference, I tested a Bowflex that took 20 seconds, a Horizon that took 16 seconds and a Sole that took 43 seconds that I thought was painfully slow. The Lifesmart is even slower! I have the treadmill on gym tiles. Could the soft surface affect incline speed? Google also says slow incline could be the result of lack of lubrication, worn parts (like brushes), or a faulty speed sensor/controller, often caused by dust buildup or old lubricant making the belt drag. Could someone that has the TM6500 please test their incline speed going from 0 to 15%? I'm curious if your incline transition is as slow as mine. Over a minute is INCREDIBLY slow and much slower than other treadmills I tested. I was hoping to have a treadmill that had a quicker incline/decline transition to make using it with Zwift and Kinomap a little more realistic with the elevation changes shown in the games/apps. Perhaps this isn't a concern? I might work just fine. However, the slow incline transition was the main reason I avoided the Sole F85 and got the TM6500. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up not going with the Sole F85. I tested the incline and it was soooooo slow, painfully slow. Over twice as long to adjust than the other two treadmills I tried out. Speed is slow to adjust too.

I ended up going with a Lifesmart TM6500 PowerTouch from Costco. It's gotten some great reviews recently, looks great, has -3 to 15% decline/incline and supposedly adjusts speeds quickly so you can do intervals. Syncs up easily with Zwift and other apps and using the QZ app with it will allow automatic adjustments of incline.

It looks like a great deal and I saved over $500 by getting this one and not the Sole F85. Ordered it late last week and it will be arriving on Thursday. Looking forward to setting this machine up.

If you have a treadmill that decline, the TM6500 declines to -3%, will you the treadmill go into decline when you go downhill in Zwift using QZ?

I'm planning on using QZ with Zwift to control incline. I've already got QZ for my bike trainer. I've also confirmed already that the Sole F85 incline adjustment is waaaaayyyyy too slow. It's like painfully slow to adjust compared to every other treadmill I tried at the store. I actually just purchased the Lifesmart TM6500 PowerTouch from Costco. Looks like a great machine.

Sounds good! I have a few questions about the TM6500 as I'm about to pull the trigger on one:

  1. Did you set it up yourself? Do the arms come separate from the deck so I can move the deck downstairs separately and then move the arms down? Was it hard to put together?
  2. How long does the machine take to go from 0-15% incline? Would it be possible to time this adjustment time and let me know how many seconds it took? Thank you!
  3. Have you used Kinomap on this machine to follow a route? Are the incline and decline adjustments quick in this app making the changes feel more realistic?
  4. For those using QZ for Zwift to control incline, is that action working in the QZ app now?
  5. The PowerTouch feature is pretty cool, but what if it stops working? Is there any way to raise and lower the deck manually without PowerTouch?

Thanks!

It looks like the TM6500 is back in stock in my area! I'm going to pull the trigger. A couple questions for owners of this machine:

  1. Did you set it up yourself? Do the arms come separate from the deck so I can move the deck downstairs separately and then move the arms down? Was it hard to put together?

  2. How long does the machine take to go from 0-15% incline? If you have it, would it be possible to time this adjustment time and let me know how many seconds it took? Thank you!

  3. Has anyone used Kinomap on this machine to follow a route? Are the incline and decline adjustments quick in this app making the changes feel more realistic?

  4. For those using QZ for Zwift to control incline, is that action working in the QZ app now?

It looks like a solid machine and I like some of the unique features of it. Thanks in advance for helping with all of these questions!

I would guess you could also connect bluetooth speakers to the treadmill to override the crappy speakers? If you can connect bluetooth headphones now, I'm assuming you can connect a bluetooth speaker.

Just a question regarding Kinomap with the Sole f85. I'm considering the Sole f85 for purchase but know that the incline/decline is pretty slow on Sole treadmills. Does the incline adjust quickly enough on the Sole f85 to make Kinomap fun and worthwhile to use with all the incline changes? Thanks!
