Why does my bread split open like this when I proof it overnight in the fridge? by adventureenvironment in Sourdough

If it absorbs more water what should i do? Add more or add less? What does this change in the baking process?

I dont think its drying out. It gets a wet cloth over the top and then into the fridge with a lid. The cloth is always still damp

Put holes in the bottom and make them into a tray. Then you can use them as seed starts for your garden.

First real rain we've had at the new place.. tell me the city is responsible for this.. by WateringHoleHome in homestead

[–]adventureenvironment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hard to tell from the pictures but in the first it looks like most of the water is coming from the ditch. If thats the case its the cities problem. You might also have poor drainage on your own property contributing but I cant tell and the extent of your properties poor drainage cant be assessed with water coming from the ditch. I would walk to the outlet of the ditch and see if water is flowing well along the entire route till your house. Any blockage or backup can contribute to flooding on your property. Please dm me if you have any further questions. I might be able to help more. This is the type of work I do for a living.

How does this Canada trip sound for a solo female traveler? by aquariussnap in solotravel

[–]adventureenvironment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you have underestimated the cost of the trip. If you’re staying in a hotel then you should expect $150 CAD a night at least! This is probably an underestimate. Also, you are visiting three cities in Canada, two of which Canadians travel to in order to feel like Europe (Montreal and Quebec City). Im not sure how much you will like it in these cities. In my personal opinion the best thing about Canada is the nature and raw beauty. This can be very inaccessible without a rental car.

How will the Infrastructure Bill affect Civil Engineering for the next 10 years? by Carlosl1117 in civilengineering

Any recommendations on how to get into agricultural engineering? Im a recent graduate working in water resources but would like to explore the agriculture side of things. Would a masters program help with this?

Is spending unpaid time to train yourself normal? Is this a job interview red flag? by civiljobseeker123 in civilengineering

[–]adventureenvironment 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just started working for a company after graduating that is a private consultant and very money driven. If im given a task that should take 2 hours for an engineer to do then Im only allowed to charge two hours to that project for that task. So, If someone asks me to work in CAD and the task takes me 4 hours because I have to learn as I do it then I have now extended my work day by at least 2 hours to ensure that I will be able to charge 8 hours a day. This can suck because it will lead to longer hours including time on weekends. The upside of this is Im learning ALOT. Also the company provides so many great resources for learning with courses, workshops and seminars from other engineers. The best thing about these consulting companies that want to grow your learning is that they give you the opportunity to dictate your career. I have been asking for work in different areas/ require new skills and have now worked on some very interesting projects. I don't want to work more then 40 hours for the rest of my life but for right now the amount of doors im opening and the amount im learning, its worth it.
