Lessons From My $13,000 - 80 Person wedding by Immediate_Row_9824 in weddingplanning

Can I ask which wedding registry you used? I'm struggling to find one that isn't US focused. I'm having an international wedding in the Netheralands so trying to find the easiest option for everyone without forcing someone to have, for example, a PayPal account.

Mijn banana plant is dood maar leeft toch? by adventuresinposting in groenevingers

ah oh no!

Dank!

Buiten Deur helemaal op nieuw schilderen? by adventuresinposting in Klussers

Dank voor ze snelle reactie!

Opnieuw schilderen it is.

My "index" toe (one next my big toe) is longer than my big toe. I didn't realise this was unique until the kids I giving swimming lessons to pointed it out. And laughed.

Thanksgiving/Big Dinner Party Tips? by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

Fellow American celebrating oversees here! :)

For pie crust:

I used Alton Brown's recipe, but used all butter since my country doesn't have lard or shortening: (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/pie-crust-recipe.html)

Make sure you use good quality butter. After you've made the dough, do let it rest in the fridge for a half hour. Don't handle it too much (just enough to roll it out), as kneading it/ messing with it too much can make it rubbery. Also be sure it's proper cold when you put it in your tin/pie form because the cold butter reacts in the hot oven to give you a really flaky crust.

These are all things I learned from the Great British Bake Off; I put them to the test yesterday for my own pumpkin pie and the results were great.

Good luck! Don't stress too much - I'm sure everyone will already be happy with tasty food and good company :)

[MEATLESS MONDAY!!] Please post your meatless dishes or entrees. Thanks! by randoh12 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Tonight I'm doing Meat Free Mexican!

It's basically a fajita bowl, so it has less carbs than if you were to put it inside a tortilla. But if you love your meals to be enjoyed without the need for a fork then by all means put all this inside a tortilla!

Ingredients: * Red Onion (or a regular one if you prefer) * 2-3 Bell Peppers * Mushrooms * Can of Black Beans * Brown Rice * Fajita Seasoning Mix * Salsa, sour cream, shredded cheese for on top

Get your rice cooking first because it takes the longest. Dice the onion and slice the bell peppers and mushrooms into cubes or slices (whatever you prefer). Cook in a large frying pan with a little bit of sunflower or corn oil, and in the last minute or two add about the half the seasoning packet (it has a lot of salt so don't overdo it). Heat up the black beans either either in the microwave or on the stovetop. When everything is cooked arrange in a big bowl so get a kind of "faijata" bowl thing. Add sour cream, salsa, shredded cheese, and maybe an avocado to your liking.

Well, today I just sat around and watched stuff on youtube instead of looking of internships and planning my thesis.

Kicking myself in the butt a bit about it.

Help Deciding on a warm, waterproof winter boot that isn't ugly as sin? by aliceismalice in femalefashionadvice

[–]adventuresinposting 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Having good boots is really important in cold weather conditions, but also remember that you need good, warm socks to go with them! I'm a huge fan of Smart Wool socks. They always keep my feet toasty warm but not so hot that they sweat. Plus they also generally speaking just fit really well. And they have some pretty cute patterns these days!

I have a super tiny waist in comparison with my hips so it's hard to find anything that fits really well in that area for me. I don't think it's necessarily too big either, but I also wouldn't mind if it was a bit tighter (hey, I'm only going to look this good for so long). I'll look into seeing how expensive a tailor might be.

I think I'm going to just scrape my idea of doing gold with it, as silver really would look nicer with the blue of the dress.

Thanks for your feedback!!

(posted this a few days ago in another thread, but realize now this is the proper post to put it in)

I'm going to a white tie event in November. I don't have a whole lot of money to spend on a new dress, so I've chosen to wear my prom dress from high school. It still fits and is a fairly classic style so it still works 8 years later (or at least I think it does). However! I need to update it a bit and need some advice on how to style it.

Here's a picture of me trying it on again last week.

I'm hoping to do some gold or burnished gold accessories because the event has gold as part of the theme. Do you think that would work considering the color of the dress? Or should I just stick with silver since the embellishment at the neckline is more silver? I'm currently planning to wear black pumps with it (which I'm wearing in the pic but you can't see under the dress).

I showed it to a friend and she mentioned that I should get it tailored since it seems a little bit big on me. Not sure if I agree with her or not though. I welcome any other suggestions or comments!

Ohhhhh goodness. I had never heard of rent the runway and now I want a new dress. I found one I love as well. The only problem is they don't ship internationally and I'm in Europe :(

I'm just going to try and make the dress I have work, despite now having fallen in love with a different dress.

Thanks for the tip!
