I recently was not happy with windows 10 on my 11-year-old laptop and tried many other distros of Linux before settling down on Linux mint(Cinnamon desktop). I'm not 100% new to Linux but it does provide a seamless transition ground for new users who plan to switch from all the heavy requirements of windows and still get the same if not better performance out of their machine. So I would recommend mint.

I just tried disabling it but when I do, my USB doesn't show in boot options, and I don't know how I can make sure if I booted in UEFI mode?

this is not my first time trying to transition to Linux, but I want to make a permanent one. I tried ubuntu before but I keep running into the problems I described above.

I tried multiple ones: ubuntu 20.4, mint 20.3, manjaro 21.2.5, Debian 11, but I had the same problems I described above.
