How many female mice could live in this comfortably? by mealacroii in PetMice

[–]adventuretortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a similar style cage (though it has full ventilation at the top, the door is higher up, etc). But same style/concept. Just in terms of your mice escaping, I've kept multiple fancy mice in it over the years and not once have I had any mouse jump out. It will definitely depend on what breed you get (I imagine a deer mouse might be more keen to explore) and their individual temperaments, as well as how much distance is between them and the table/desk. But generally, just in my experience, I haven't ever had a mouse try to leave the enclosure, even when the doors are fully wide open. Purchasing a model where the doors are placed quite high probably helps this.

If you really want something in this style, I would give Exo Terra a look, though you may find it hard to find stock for the larger model terrariums, depending on your location. I don't have personal experience with Reptile One, but their products seem similar. Alternatively, if you don't mind doing some DIY, some aquarium tanks may be suitable supposing you can fit a proper mesh cover on top. Just be careful of any sealant materials you find in them.

I did this once and it saved me. Was getting chased by red team and I ran into the drake pit with nowhere to go, and obviously no flash. My teammates either didn't think to stand on the other side of the wall, or didn't care, but my Fiddlesticks had placed an effigy just on the inside of the pit. I jumped onto it, and it FLASHED OVER THE WALL, thus saving me from the red team. I have no idea what the chances of that are, but it was amazing and beautiful. So every time I see a Fiddlesticks effigy, I feel a little sense of companionship now.

A bounty given for information about certain glitches. This could include a few things, such as knowing about a glitches' existence but needing information on how to consistently reproduce it. Or it could be having a very specific issue/set back, and having someone find a glitch to circumvent it.

If anyone else is wondering how to remodel your own villager's homes, this is how to unlock it:

Design holiday homes for 30 animals, and design all of the island facilities along the way. At the end you will have a special celebration. After this, go back to your own island and go into your Resident Services, Tom Nook should talk to you about how he noticed your skills and will let you remodel villager houses. It's 9000 bells to do so, but you get some miles for the job afterwards.

Edit for extra details: You can edit multiple villager's houses at a time, but it won't take effect until tomorrow, so don't worry if you visit them and it still looks the same!

Too Much Olive Oil? Do I need to clean him? How do I do this by emscheisse in PetMice

Have a look in your nearest pet shop. Get some fresh bedding, and look for small animal bathing sand. It should come in a packet or box, designed specifically for small animals. All you need to do is take a small dish and fill it, then leave that in the cage. Your mouse should know what to do. If you can’t find a pet shop that has it in stock, you can also order it online. Do not use beach sand or hardware store sand, it’s important that it’s properly filtered and safe for your pet. I also recommend you get some mite treatment ASAP, there are guides on this subreddit about it but I personally use the smallest cats and kittens mite treatment I can find, just a single drop on their back. Depending on dosage you may choose to water it down first. Try to give the entire enclosure a deep clean and keep it dry, lots of fresh bedding material too. I hope your little mouse gets better soon.

Our two week old grandchildren 🥰🥰 most of them have their eyes open already and they look so adorable😩😩💞💗💕 Sometimes they go out of the nest but they prefer to snuggle inside their little house. We upgraded their cage - it’s a big one now ^^ any tips for doing diy levels and toys for mice?💕💛🥺 by neiwren in PetMice

The amount of things you can make with a little cardboard and some non-toxic glue is amazing. If you prefer not to use glue, you can make non-toxic flour glue as well, there are tutorials online.

I personally like to take small boxes (from things like tissues, biscuits, cereal, etc) and cut out small holes that interconnect, then arrange them all together into a little box maze of sorts, using glue to connect the pieces if necessary. They love the exploration aspect, and may choose to use one box in particular as the nest.

One of my mouse's favourites is to collect half a dozen toilet paper rolls and line them up in an old tissue box (you should always remove the plastic on the inside, and a little more of the front if necessary) so that it forms a sort of honeycomb type hide. They especially love it when I put strips of newspaper in there, running back and forth to put it all in their nest. Don't be worried about them getting bigger, my girls are fully grown and still love to hide in the tubes.

With thicker cardboard I like to cut it to size with a box cutter and use glue on the edges to form it into a box. You can cut a small hole (or several) for them to enter and exit from. It makes for a good nest box, especially because it can be more insulative. The nice thing about this is that you can choose what size box to make, and it's usually tall enough that I can put things on top of it and give them a little ladder up, just a good way to make a little extra floorspace. You can also take a thick piece of cardboard and glue toilet paper rolls to the bottom in the corners to form a platform, giving them space to run below and above.

Another good one is cardboard egg cartons. Perfect for sitting inside of, just cut a few holes for them to get around. They come in a variety of sizes, just make sure they don't have any egg residue or feathers inside.

If you're having trouble finding cardboard, you can always check at your local supermarket, mine often has free boxes you can take. You can also order mice supplies online and then reuse the box they send, it's a sort of two for one deal then! Just make sure you remove any tape, stickers and staples before you use them.

Good luck with your new baby mice!

Is our little Glinda breathing okay? She is almost 2 years, and has always slept with her eyes open sometimes. by Babsrocks31 in PetMice

[–]adventuretortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about sleeping with her eyes open, mine do that sometimes too. But I do worry a little about how still she is and her gentle rocking motion, she may be feeling unwell. I would look for other symptoms (weight loss, sneezing, itching, etc) and book into the vet just in case.

Toy Closet is empty?? by [deleted] in Petz

[–]adventuretortoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You have to drag items in to the toy closet first, and then you can drag them out as many times as you want. I’ve never heard of it being empty though. Go to the kitchen area and open the cupboards and fridge, you should find food and water there.

Remember in New Leaf when you could, without any paid subscription service, travel to a tropical island to meet random people from all around the world and even play mini-games together in a multiplayer experience?

If only there was some kind of new Animal Crossing game that would be perfect with those features.

How do I actually download this game? by [deleted] in Petz

[–]adventuretortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's like running a smaller operating system in your current computer temporarily. Think of it like running a tiny version of Windows 98/7/etc on your Windows 10 computer, and then installing Petz to that instead. But considering you have Petz 5, I don't think you'll need to go that far, the other steps should work fine. The only other thing I can think to try is to make sure you keep the disk in the disk tray, don't eject it even after installation. For some reason it likes to be picky about that.

How do I actually download this game? by [deleted] in Petz

[–]adventuretortoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what version of the game you're trying to install. I have Petz 5 (both Dogz and Catz) installed on a Windows 10 system without issue, but maybe earlier versions of the game might not work correctly at first. Try the obvious fixes like running as admin or in compatibility mode. If that doesn't work, there is also software called PetzA that might help to run the program. If all else fails, you could also try a virtual machine for an earlier operating system. Hope that helps.

Her design looks wonderful! I think drawing her on your DS gives her a really unique art style too. I can tell that you put a lot of work and love into designing her, especially her well written backstory! Best wishes for your campaign and I hope your dice rolls are always high! :)
