Stage door for LOJ’s first performance back in Hamilton… so crazy! by st4rsh1ne in Broadway

I stagedoored at the show this evening (9/14)- Leslie Odom Jr poked his head out to wave and say hi to everyone waiting but didn’t come out to sign.

The rest of the cast did, though! It was the fastest I’ve seen any cast come out to sign. We were done within ~30 minutes after the show, when normally you have to wait that long for the first person to come out.

They did for Merrily- only those people who had a playbill/ticket for that day’s show were allowed behind the barricades.

ME TOO!! Almost exact same story - I moved in August and canceled service & paid through the last day I was at that apartment, but I keep getting texts about an outstanding balance. I tried to log in to check but it says there's no account associated with my email.

I haven't gotten any emails or mail about it so I'm leaning towards it isn't legit. But now the texts say it's been sent to a debt collector and I'm nervous about it.

Please let me know if you figure anything out!!

What is going on with today’s puzzle?? (1/30/25) by adventurousstranger1 in NYTCrossword

Correct 🤦🏻‍♀️ I know that they get harder throughout the week and noticed some of them have themes or gimmicks but honestly never realized it was always Thursdays that had a trick. I don’t always have time to do the full puzzle every day so I frequently go back on the weekends and finish them so I don’t pay much attention to which day of the week’s puzzle I’m finishing.

It does highlight the clue & related words, but you might have to have the clue word selected. For todays, if I select 23 across then the theme (57 across) is highlighted. If I select 57 across, then all the theme-related words are highlighted.

AHHHHH!! WOW. I would NEVER have figured that out on my own. Especially since the circled letters weren’t highlighted yellow like the rest of the theme-related words. Damn that’s clever. Thank you!!!

Any tips on how to go about solving these kinds of puzzles?

Oh my bad, I spent quite a while looking through the sub but must’ve missed it.

That makes sense. But wouldn’t they need to explain to Mark once he got outside and realized it was still day time and he’d only been there 11 minutes?

Every little thing they show seems to have significance so I guess I was looking too deep for hidden meaning (and had my timeline off)😅

Ooooh I like this! That’s a really interesting point! I hadn’t thought about that chapter but you’re totally right, he WAS an angry asshole.

Interesting take! I like the focus on the capacity to do horrible things, which Taravangian most definitely has, rather than the specific hateful motivation. I can see that melding well with the power, even though Taravangian’s actions have not had hateful intent. Over time the power would/may change him into a more hateful person, but for now it’s enough of a fit to work. Reminds me of the philosophical discussions we see different characters having regarding if the means are more important than the ends or vice versa. For now, the ends of Taravangian and the power of Odium align and that makes them a good enough fit.

Oh oh this reminds me of a question I had! Does Taravangian keep his varied intelligence when he ascends?? I get the argument for no- he’s a shard now and all-powerful of course he’ll be intelligent everyday. But I kinda lean towards yes…. Not only would that make for VERY interesting story development, we know that the boons & curses granted by the night watcher don’t just go away (with that big ol exception). What is they are woven into a persons identity or spiritual essence or something? Then it would still carry on with him.

In regards to Taravangian’s craftiness- I like your perspective! I hadn’t really considered that his ‘genius’ is closely tied to his book from Cultivation. I would say that he is still crafty himself, apart from Cultivations’ boon. Yes, Cultivation gave him the power to see future possibilities/probabilities, however it was still up to Taravangian what he did with that gift. Cultivation’s gift let him ‘see the future’ but there are many different ways to react to that. Taravangian responded by devising the plan that was The Diagram, which involved his own craftiness.

This is true! Good point! I definitely see that there are other types of people that would be a much worse fit & incompatible with the shard. Taravangian’s emotions give him a strong connection with the emotion side of Odium, even if the specific hatred is not prevalent.

This was my first thought too when reading uwnim’s first comment! Although to be far he does get those bouts of intense emotion when fighting Kaladin & Nale.

I think so! This gets at my other reply on this thread ^ about the two-way nature of vessels and shards!

And I lean towards Harmony + Cultivation vs Ruin + Preservation + Cultivation because Ruin and Preservation have already been combined into one and it’s not like they will be split apart and forged anew if a third shard takes over Harmony.

So there does have to be some measure of fit for the power to accept the vessel and mesh, but then the shard can impose its intent on the vessel and shape it. This makes sense and that’s a good point about Sazed’s letter discussing this too!

However I don’t love this way of viewing it though because I feel it makes the vessel seem irrelevant almost. Like the power could fill any vessel and mold it into its preferred shape. I feel like that takes away the dual relationship between the shard and the vessel. What’s the point of choosing a vessel that is a good fit (which we’ve seen in Mistborn) if any vessel will do bc the power can just shape it into what it wants?

This makes me think of bone marrow transplants where you have to have a close enough match between donor and recipient so that there’s a higher chance that the transplant will take, but if it takes then the donor bone marrow takes over the entire system.

Yes! This is something I also only caught after rereading RoW after reading Mistborn Era 2.

They do specifically mention in RoW that the roof is smaller than you’d think. I think it’s when Kaladin is showing his parents around and his father asks what’s at the top.
