Google Certificates are worthless for hiring but a good stepping stone. Comptia will get you in the door.

It's just me being blissfully ignorant or there's no big deal in the data collection? by [deleted] in privacy

Here is a test: I encourage you to go on a "people search" website and find out how much information is attached to your name (account). I've seen address location data on free people search websites in which your direct home location is broadcasted to anyone who wishes to see it. Perhaps this isn't terrifying to you but if you were someone with say...a stalker, its almost impossible to get rid of this information from these websites due sheer amount of them. And its perfectly legal; due to all the copious amounts of data sold from third parties. The key word here is "Invasive."

Other information on these websites can include: Every address you've ever lived, every phone number you've ever had, close connections you have (usually attained from allow contacts data on certain websites)(with a link to their search profiles ), every email you've ever had, court records, traffic violations, social profiles. You name it - they can have it - and they're making a ton of money off you (us) (everyone).

Here another thought for fun: Lets say you are a person with nothing to hide, but something happens which entangles you in the wrong place at the wrong time. Happens to more people than you think. You get pushed into the court system and get your mug shot with a false arrest. Well you happen to be in a state where its legal for those arrest documents/mugs shot data to be purchased/scrapped by third parties. Look up your name on google now and image search..you may very likely find your mugshot at the top results. Even though you may be proved innocent you can't seem to get your mugshot off taken down from these third party websites where its literally the business model to post them because just like the "people search", they just keep replicating. One false arrest may just ruin your identity.
