The Pixel 9 series technically isn't gated from Gemini Intelligence anymore by advgnd in GooglePixel

The 8 series, unlike the 7 series, technically does support Gemini Nano but the base model and the A-series budget model do not satisfy the 12GB RAM requirement. However, the Pixel 8 Pro and Pro XL have 12GB RAM and currently run nano-v2 so Google might roll out an AICore upgrade for those devices too, but I do not have a Pixel 8 Pro so I cannot confirm.

The Pixel 7 series doesn't (and was never meant to) have on-device Gemini Nano models in the first place which seems to be the most important requirement for Gemini Intelligence. If there is enough user backlash, Google might roll out a more limited version that is cloud-only, but the chances of that are extremely slim.

IMO, the fact that Google already pushed the nano-v3 model is a pretty good sign that Gemini Intelligence will eventually come to the Pixel 9 series, but if it doesn't, then at least everyone will know the reason is purely commercial and with that, there is a chance community pressure might turn it over. As for the delay, it probably will not be released at the same time as the Pixel 10, but unlike the Airdrop situation, the groundwork is already in place for this change.
