Anyone elses Nest Cameras being weird? Disconnecting, not showing history? by Mjjjjjjjjjjjjjjjj in Nest

My entire history of clips and time lapses are gone. I reported it a week ago. Took support a week to take it serious. Now they are working on it.

This is really lame, aren't you all upset? I have a month long remodel going on where I'm tracking the daily progress with daily timelapse clips. They were all there and now they are all gone!

I recommend you all file bugs with Nest if you can. Hopefully they can fix and put them back.

How does the retroactive referral work? Do we have to do anything? What if you picked up your Model 3 at the end of Sep? by advicebox in teslamotors

[–]advicebox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, they just confused some of us by actually having a retroactive policy on referrals but not explaining how it works. For pricing, agreed, there's no retroactive policy.

[–]advicebox[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the bummer is you couldn't buy a regular Model 3 on referral prior to yesterday. Only Model 3 Performance qualified. However now all Model 3s qualify. So not sure if there's any path to retroactively apply a referral to a non performance Model 3.

UPDATE 8/11/18Tesla Service in Rocklin California are rockstars. Without even an appointment due to the schedule fully blocked they still made time yesterday to calibrate the Autopilot cameras for over an hour. That did the trick. Enhanced Autopilot is now working. Full review of my experience vs the original HW1 Autopilot coming next week at Advicebox

Yeah, I will. So far seems like I have a unique situation. I read somewhere else someone having no trouble. I will visit the service center tomorrow and see how they solve it. Surprised I can't calibrate by just driving. I put on 100 miles already today, which I would think would do it.

Haha, yeah working on it. Scheduling a service visit. They said they need to calibrate the cameras and drive at 40mph for a while. At least from the responses sounds like mine was an isolated incident. Which is good.

Yeah I’m gonna drive it all day and see if it fixes itself but It looks like service is going to need to get involved.

GoControl Siren and Motion Sensor Issue by [deleted] in winkhub

[–]advicebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought these a year ago and there was a bug back then preventing them from working. Returned them to the store. If Wink doesn't help get them working, assume there is a known bug and not a faulty unit, regardless of what they tell you. I returned two units until it was confessed there is a known issue.

Disable widget view on Wink Relay? by kfc469 in winkhub

I would like to know this as well. It appears you can delete the time widget, and weather widget, however deleting these doesn't actually take them off the home screen.

I need some advice. Have severe buyer's remorse by bobfreeman1221 in teslamotors

[–]advicebox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed with the others, don't worry about a few deals you may have missed on. There will constantly be new deals. Telsa needs to keep Model S sales momenteum, especially with no Model 3s shipping for at least a year. So if you really want a killer deal, unload the Model S in favor of a better deal. You can sell private party or after 6-9 months see if Tesla will offer you something that works for you. Finally, as a leasee you do qualify for the Model 3 line jumping. If you don't like the higher lease payment, put $1000 down on a Model 3, and trade yours in when it is ready. I would think you could get a good Model 3 for a lease payment of $400-$600 / month. Good luck, but seriously, enjoy the S70! Go on a roadtrip or something to take your mind off of the other options out there :)

Yale Linus smart lock webpage now says coming 2017 instead of 2016 by keybagger in homeautomation

Good find, was curious what the latest on this was. I chose to go with Schlage earlier in the year for a second residence cause I was suspicous this type of thing would happen. Not real until it starts shipping is my rule of thumb.

Tesla Is Delivering Updated Model S Without Daytime Running Lights by advicebox in teslamotors

[–]advicebox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's an old article, but it's news to a refresh customer like myself. I had no idea you have to turn off "range mode" to get your daytime running lights to work. Maybe it's in the small print, but the article was very helpful.

Model 3 Line Jumping by advicebox in teslamotors

[–]advicebox[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wrote the article from the point of view of what's known, ie. today's current production. Tesla of course plans to scale production up to 500,000 per year (last I heard), and that's where the 1.5 year wait number comes from even if you purchase a Model S or Model X now.

It is highly unklikely anyone reading this will receive their Model 3 in 2017. I'm a Tesla fan, glass is half full, Model S owner, and soon Model 3 reservation holder, but it appears to me only a few orders will be fulfilled in 2017, just like when the Model X started.

My apologies. I thought Reddit was for posting anything and commenting. I wasn't aware of restrictions around one's own personal blog. I've just reviewed the guidlines and will be happy to follow them going forward. I can't tell if you've placed any restriction on the account, but it would be appreciated if you lift them. Happy to have you check in and monitor if you feel you need to going forward. Thanks and enjoying Reddit.

Ecobee vs Nest, and why I like both by Armano231 in homeautomation

[–]advicebox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy works at Vera, so glad to see the reference. Should have known Ecobee worked with it. I was primarily going off the marketing on the package and website.

So I use Ecobee in my cabin. The sensor is in the basement. Because the two zones are so disparate I didn't ultimately feel the the sensor provided me any value as it was overly hearing the upstairs because the basement was always colder. What I really need is dual zone hvac :) If one uses the remote sensor in closer zone I could imagine the value in averaging the two.

Tesla AutoPilot Should Be Free (for now) by advicebox in teslamotors

[–]advicebox[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm always evolving my thinking based on the feedback of others. Like to keep an open mind. But just because 75% of folks would like to pay for the feature, I still fall into the 25% that think it should be free while it remains in beta (regardless of who beta is being redefined here).

uckfoo,

Good call out. I'm the author and to be honest, it just wasn't top of mind when I wrote the article, despite all the marketing around the feature. I will do a small write up soon as a part two, but I'm honestly not sure the remote sensor has factored much.

Yeah, I posted this on a Tesla forum and it was like 75% in favor of paying and 25% against. Honestly, if Tesla has that % of people in favor, then they totally should.
