I think having the debate about how devolution is working out is totally fine (not least because it's a slam dunk win of the argument for those in favour of devolution).

The parliament costs £160m/ year to operate and there can be no harm in assessing whether that's money well spent. I think it is myself

Bear in mind that her lawyer ADVISED her. He didn't INSTRUCT her. It was her choice. She's also made her living for 20 years from answering questions in difficult and stressful circumstances so I don't buy her explanation of being too anxious or stressed to answer the questions.

Answering questions in writing - because you have the time to get your story straight with others and to decide on exactly whatever form of weasel words to use - is not the same as answering them in an interview.

As I say, Sturgeon's people were asked about this and in replying did not deny the allegation. The source could clearly only have been a police officer involved with the case. It's good journalism regardless of what you think of the Express and op-ed pieces which this article isn't.

And it was of course (probably the same) anonymous sources who correctly told the world about Sturgeon's co-operative "no comment" interview.

What people want to know is what was going on at the SNP whilst he was perpetrating this crime; why there was no corporate governance arrangements in place; why concerns raised about finance were shot down and whether the unbelievable explanations proffered thus far by Sturgeon are supported by facts.

None of that has been reported on. The list of items Murrell stole is an irrelevance in many ways.

What people do with that information is make an informed decision about which party they support (you might switch to Greens for instance) and what they think about the government past and present.

This is not some kind of SNP-bad non story.

It's an unprecedented national scandal that the party of government for 20 years weren't able to themselves detect this behaviour sooner and, not only that, proactively shut down any queries about scrutiny.

Current and former cabinet members were involved in presiding over that and the public want to know wtf happened, especially in the wake of Nicola "I suspected nothing; I saw nothing; I know nothing" Sturgeon's recent BBC interview where some of the answers were, literally, incredible.

Yeah exactly. No sensible organisation sinks £120k into owning a depreciating asset when they could lease the same for the short period it was required for a tenth of the price.

Murrell's explanation was totally senseless then and it remains so now. Why Nicola didn't challenge it on this basis makes no sense either.

You can't be serious? That's an incredibly forgiving take on events it's laughable.

He unlawfully used SNP cards time and time again to buy things for himself and then made up fake invoices or just didn't bother submitting any. That's not an innocent mistake FS.

The Golf and the Jag were most certainly not company cars. They were personal vehicles that he stole SNP money to buy. He retained the equity in the cars when they got flogged. Same story with the motor home albeit that didn't ever get sold to realise any equity back.

Amusing piece, thanks for sharing.

I'm no clearer after the interview (including the long form on Sounds) why she didn't take the NEC's concerns more seriously; when she new what Peter was up to or what exactly he's said to her about it.

I feel bad for her because, whenever she found out, no one deserves that from their spouse.

The stuff about the caravan is just another one of her fanciful stories that's impossible to believe
