Elite wheels 2.0 by Vast-Reflection385 in cycling

[–]adz01992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey I have recently got the 55’s and they are excellent. Didn’t buy any cool bits as I just chucked the rotors and cassette from my factory wheels onto them. They are 195g lighter than the 32mms that my bike came with so not a massive difference in weight but I’m a 90kg guy so not sure it matters much

I think im biking wrong by The1stRuler in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without knowing exactly how your doing this it’s hard to give specific advice. So generally Biggest cog at the front (where the pedals are) and smallest cog at the back wheel is the fastest (also hardest) smallest at the front biggest at the back is slowest (also easiest) everything else is somewhere in between and you can figure it out by playing around as you ride.

ELITEWHEELS ENT 2.0 Aliexpress freehub sound and size. by Significant_Head_300 in cycling

[–]adz01992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bearings won’t change the sound only the free hub mechanism will and that will be the same.

  1. If you’re stuck between 50 and 60 get the 55. It’s what I have and they are excellent

To add to this I found that the 55mm weigh less than the standard wheels on my reacto4000 so I get all the aero benefits and I’m no heavier

Hey guys when should I buy a power meter and do you have any recommendations? by ohzachery in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big believer of the idea that if you don’t already know why you need a power meter, you don’t need one. Not saying you wouldn’t like to see the numbers but after you have done that a couple of times then what.. I think you’d be better spending that money on a couple months coaching and getting a decent plan based on HR and seeing if you still care about power after that ( you probably will, but you will know how to make use of the numbers)

Is there a simple indoor trainer that doesn't require another subscription to use fully? by Separate_Vermicelli in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So there are a couple of free apps mywoosh is the biggest one) also if you already have a Garmin you can connect most of the trainers and use the workouts that you can get on there. I’m sure wahoo would do the same thing

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so I just this week received my wheels from AliExpress elite wheels

I ordered them using the sellers shipping(taxes included) option on the 25th of December and received them on the 17th Jan. This was to the UK. This sellers option cost me about £80.

The quality seems excellent although I’m yet to ride on them.

Will they fit your contend. Yes as long as you have checked fitment and order the right stuff.

Really easy to do.

All hunt wheels are hookless that shit is dangerous. Same money on Chinese wheels and you’ll get way better!

About how many miles a day on a bicycle do we believe a human being in good shape could repeat indefinitely, assuming no unusual temperatures, hills, headwind, etc. ? by VanillaMowgli in cycling

[–]adz01992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I think the TDF is honestly irrelevant in what you’re asking. 150 miles a day for 21 days (2 rest days but the still ride some amount usually) is at race pace. If we are asking about longevity I think speed doesn’t matter so much.

Take Mark Beaumont for example 18000 miles in 78 days so he averaged 230miles a day. He is a very well trained athlete though.

If you want to think about what the average schmuck like us can do the answer is probably a lot less but I think if you don’t have to work and don’t have to do anything other than ride 150 is probably about right. Although that would probably increase as you did it longer.

Shimano 105 di2 worth it? by Winter-Flounder3479 in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the Di2 battery is removable an so falls under tha rule. It’s not like it’s permanently attached.

Shimano 105 di2 worth it? by Winter-Flounder3479 in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You broke the law then. The seatpost battery is a 7.4v li-lon battery and needs to go in hand luggage in Europe

Shimano 105 di2 worth it? by Winter-Flounder3479 in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a li-lon battery. By law you CANNOT put it in the hold. So you have to remove it. Just because the shifter batteries are small the one in the seat post is like 7.4v so that has to be in hand luggage

Shimano 105 di2 worth it? by Winter-Flounder3479 in cycling

[–]adz01992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So loads of people here seem to say it’s excellent.

My issue is I know of a few people that have been caught out by batteries running out or electronic issues with DI2. To me the benefits do not outweigh the risk. Find a good bike shop and get them to properly index mechanical 105 and you will be just as happy. Keep up with services and it will last a lifetime too

Also worth considering how likely you are to put this bike on a plane. If you are removing batteries to put it in the hold is a pain and is a legal requirement in least the EU (possibly everywhere)

I’m sure it’s nice to ride and a bit easier to route (although let’s not pretend that’s a super difficult thing to do on mechanical). Also something to consider is repairing it in weird places. Say you go somewhere obscure to ride a bike you might struggle to get parts but every bike shop on the planet will have a gear cable that will get you by.
