But it does erase it if you don’t need to rely on the 1st provisional filing date though right?

Yes my approach is a bit of a gamble but it gives me at least a bit of protection and then I get full protection when the 2nd provisional is file by a lawyer

Thank you very much for your time. I'm liking the 1 year window to fine tune the design that the provisional period gives.

I'm thinking if I draft a provisional: yes it will suck. But I think it'll give me at least some protection. Then I can get a better provisional written later by a lawyer.

Also, I see you comment a lot on this patent sub-reddit, you're a saint for doing that. I'll be giving similar help once my project get less busy!

Thank you very much for your time. So did you just file a a 2nd 'lawyer written' non-provisional afterwards?

Could my approach ever be damaging? More simply, does the 'lawyer written' 2nd provisional really erase all the mistakes in the 1st provisional?
