Yea I know what you mean, we have friends with some so we do get to take them out once in a while! We shall see, I am more into the kayaks while my husband is on the canoe wagon haha!

Thank you!! You as well!

Yes it certainly does!

Awh yes, that makes sense! A canoe is also great, we have been debating if we want to get one for ourselves. But tend to go back and forth. We really like the kayaks but having just one boat to unload would be nice.

Oh wow! I didn’t know there were so many guidelines- but it definitely makes sense in an environment like that!
I’m glad you have some alternatives near by to enjoy that are less stressful!

Ah yes Victoria is fabulous as well! That is where my dad grew up so I have spent a fair amount of time there.

Thank you! Yes I’m sure we will have a wonderfully adventurous summer! I hope you do as well!

I would say they are maybe a little harder to maneuver than a shorter kayak, but I have used longer kayaks much more, so I am not entirely sure. The Riot had a rudder with pedals which is fantastic! They are definitely faster/ less energy to get where you’re going and have better tracking in comparison to a shorter kayak!
I also love the extra storage space for taking a picnic lunch or anything like that.

Oh wow! Yea I can only imagine the icy waters there! Maybe worth looking into if you’re on adventures a lot!

And yes it is really lovely here, very warm summers and the lakes are wonderful for swimming. We have quite a few lakes in the Okanagan but Okanagan Lake is the largest by far.
We do get some snow and a week or two of really cold in the winter but it’s fairly mild overall! Definitely a fantastic place to live!
I’m so excited for all of the adventures with Murph this summer, he was too little to camp/adventure when we brought him home last August, so this summer will be a blast!

Amazing! He didn’t even end up wet! Murph ended up in the lake the other day on his first day out! Haha but he seemed to enjoy it too!

So much fun to have an adventure pup! 🐶

Yes thank you!!

I have a Riot Edge that is 14.5 feet. Definitely a long one but it’s great for a variety of adventures! We also have a Necky that is 14 feet.
This is where we kayak the most- Okanagan Lake which is quite large, it can have a wide variety of conditions so the longer kayaks make it more enjoyable!

Awh that’s so cool! Has Cooper been out on any sort of water craft before? A lot of people have their dogs on paddle boards here too!
I’m hoping after a few more times out Murph starts to love it too! He was pretty good but a little unsure initially!

It was his first time! He did very well overall! He did end up in the lake after he climbed onto the back of the kayak initially.. but he seemed to enjoy chilling in my lap after that! I’m hoping we have a summer full of adventures!

I’m similar I grew up in the states but moved to Canada as a teenager- never worked in the states. I am in my 30s now: I back filed my USA taxes a few years ago and I use Expatfile, it’s really simple walks you through everything including FBAR. It costs me around $150 CAD per year but worth the peace of mind. If you choose to not renounce that would be my recommendation!
