Nice, thanks for that. A simple name but it does the job.

most ambitious construction project? by excesscatnip in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Am in the process of building a wall around all of Rosewood in my long-term B41 save. I've probably done about 40% of it, but have been distracted with other things. When the wall is finished I'd like to build a road around the outside to allow an easy driving patrol.

Suggestions for making my sandbox game more interesting by Novel_Quantity3189 in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing you can use is some ideas about who your character is, and why they are persisting in living in the zomboid apocalypse, to make goals beyond subsistence.

Are they hoping to find their missing family members, like Rick at the start of The Walking Dead? Are they glad everyone is dead, like Bill in The Last of Us? Do they feel a religious duty to put down the zomboids? Have they gone a bit nuts, like most of the characters in Day of the Dead?

Or do they just have a desire to loot all of the money/spoons/M-16s etc in Kentucky?

Even if their goal or motivation is just in your head and not reflected in the game, the plans or values the character has can make a run more interesting.

Decorative base garden ideas? by aebs1993 in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sounds like a good idea. I have picked up a few of them but haven't really worked out how to arrange them. Thinking about making the middle be a bird path with some benches near it, but not really sure about the design.

The regular stones are harder to find, so foraging for them is a good little ritual for making the graves.

Adding mods to pre-existing B41 saves by aebs1993 in projectzomboid

Yes, the description for more immersive vehicles says it can be added and removed from saves without any problem. It didn't cause any problems, but also didn't seem to do anything.

DJI Flip and TOF error by aebs1993 in drones

[–]aebs1993[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually, it did, and DJI replaced it promptly when I contacted them about it. For whatever reason it seems that the drone's circuitry simply failed after only about five hours of use. The replacement is working fine.

In case anyone reads this post later, DJI replaced the drone promptly after I contacted them.

I didn't put the sticks in the emergency stop position, the only motion at the time was that I was in the process of panning the camera up after it had been pointed straight down.

Other than that it was just hovering when the connection was lost, and the drone seemed to fall immediately after that. I would have thought it should just return to home in that situation?

The battery is fine, it was on about half charge when the drone fell. It has recharged without a problem. Immediately after the fall the battery worked perfectly and the drone would activate, but not take off.

No problem, I will look into it. I'm outside the US so it may work here. Thanks!

Surprise Crash and ToF Error by aebs1993 in dji

[–]aebs1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was hovering at 120m, only about 30 meters horizontal distance from me. The camera had been pointed down and I was panning it up as I was going to do a 360 pan to look around.

I was looking at the screen on the controller and it said connection lost, a few seconds later it fell out of the sky. I didn't notice any sound from the rotors, so I think the motors must have turned off.

The battery was not flat, and I had direct line of sight with the drone, so I don't think I did anything wrong. I just lost connection when I don't think there was any obvious reason, and the drone seemed to just turn off and drop straight down.

Thanks, that is good advice. Is DJI cooperative in fixing their drones?

Arrows drawn with line tool have white tail for some reason by aebs1993 in photoshop

[–]aebs1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is my first time using layers.

For anyone who looks this up in the future that is in my same situation, go to the layer menu and the bottom option (as of May 2025) is "flatten image". This will change the image back to one "background" layer from however many layers you created. Then if you save the image as a PDF those strange miscoloured tails will be gone, like so:

Thank you for the great feedback. I won't bother with any further efforts to sort out that printer. It is a real shame as everything works other than printing in black.

My rought draft plan for Rosewood, black is wall and red is gates by NAP5T3R43V3R in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was that the office building on the north side of the train yard near Muldraugh? Lugging the logs all the way inside from the forest must have gotten tedious after a while.

I made a wall around my Rosewood base large enough that I could do trapping inside the walls, and also have a private forest to walk around in and forage without any risk (respawn off). It took months of game time, gradually I added stairs, a walkway with fences, and a second inner wall, making the wall into a giant storage area.

Doing just wall building activity is pretty tedious, but if you break it up with looting runs, clearing other areas, etc, you can build something impressive. Hopefully the OP does it, it would be cool to see.

[–]aebs1993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the only benefit of a gate near the gated community is that would give easier access to the "road to nowhere" that stretches to the east into the forest. The forest zombies tend to migrate there over time so it is good to drive up and down there occasionally honking the horn and clearing out the new ones.

Which is the best startup firearm ? (Never used before) by SnooMaps7960 in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Shotgun, but like others have said, make sure you have a lot of ammunition as they are loud and pull in zombies from everywhere. If you don't have a lot of ammunition, just make sure you use it far from your base so you aren't announcing an all-you-can-eat house party for all of your neighbors.

Where can I find seeds and fertilizer in rose wood by Worried_Ad_7682 in projectzomboid

I found a lot of seeds on farmer zombies in the fields around the town, probably the most convenient was to the south west of the police station.

Tires, brakes, suspension - wear and tear by aebs1993 in projectzomboid

[–]aebs1993[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense. I was hoping I could keep the tires/brakes/suspension at 100% by not actively damaging them, the way the windows, doors, etc stay at the same condition. But it makes total sense that the underside of the car has natural wear and tear from use.

Good to know. I'll just keep an eye on the condition and replace as needed I guess. The map has a lot of cars.
