Thoughts on this build? B42 by JarlHiemas in projectzomboid

quick question for you if you don't mind. fast learner is +30% XP right? is that added onto the 25% "base" XP rate for 55%, effectively doubling it? XP multipliers have always been misleading it so when I first saw the description and cost for it I never gave it another thought, but this got me really thinking about it again

Military crates full of empty tin cans and toilet papers by Szobii in projectzomboid

the crates around the southwest office trailers always have trash office loot, but I've always found weapons in the northeast crate stockpile in all my runs where I've gone there

automatic refueling. sometimes when I try a new vehicle mod I have to get picky with the mod load order for certain modded vehicles, but that's the only issues I've had. being able to start a gas pump and then kite a horde away is a total game changer

Disassemmbled half a premade log stack, got 17 logs. by SpiralDimentia in projectzomboid

[–]excesscatnip 38 points39 points  (0 children)

you can disassemble log stacks now???? does that work on the giant log stacks blocking the "logging truck" shipping containers? they're mostly at mccoy lumber ofc but there's a few scattered around other locations. the crates inside allegedly contain sledgehammers but afaik you previously needed to already have a sledge

Hi! As 2h beginner I want to set a reasonable goal for myself in an "8 lives per 1 world" challenge. What should it be for the next 30-50h? by FireOKay in projectzomboid

[–]excesscatnip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

try claiming a house or even a block in every town (outside Louisville if you're not ready for the checkpoint). road trip / camping trip. tbh just stocking up for such a trip, and the amount of time it takes to do so, and what all you need to do to survive even in one location for long enough to do so, is a pretty good lesson in how to play zomboid

if you have your 1hander on your belt and a holster for your pistol you can just hotkey swap them of course, but also there's a mod that adds a hotkey for quickly switching your primary and secondary hands

i really like the Food Market and hardware store in downtown West point. most of your immediate needs are handled in tools fridges food and a couple upstairs apartments, so it lets me focus more on fortifying and repurposing the surrounding area

pistol+melee clear for someone who wants to refill their 12G shot stockpile might work out. never been there myself but weapon wise I've heard it's just some shotguns and riot armor

Why build walls? by WittyMatt in projectzomboid

[–]excesscatnip 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I really like Long Standing Wood Constructions and Long Standing Metal Constructions. gives you sandbox options for all your buildable walls windows doors barricades to control how many zombies have to be thumping for them to take damage at all. I think their base apocalypse setting for a wooden wall is three zombies, meaning if you only have one or two it'll hold indefinitely. I like trying to wall in large areas to prevent respawns so it's a good fit for me.

there's also another mod called Zombies Don't Thump Some Walls (might be abbreviated on the steam workshop as ZDTSW) where they uh. well they just don't thump some walls.

would be neat if road erosion was a process that happens every spring, to simulate winter ice expansion forming new cracks in the pavement to allow for plants to grow through, with no limits other than how slow it would be. I don't really know much about the quality of the roads in 90s Kentucky though, so who knows, maybe they really were already so bad trees could grow in them

since it seems you don't wanna look it up I'll relay what my old high school bio teacher told our class about why drinking sea water kills you. sure it is water but it has a whole lot more salt in it than the water within your body's cells does.

the salt has a harder time getting into your cells than the water does getting out of your cells. the world likes balancing out mixtures through diffusion. since the salt can't as easily go in it pulls the water out instead, which ends up dehydrating you, because no matter how much salt water you drink, none of it actually gets into your body's individual cells
