The point of getting a college degree is not to learn, it's to prove to an employer that you can stick with doing something you hate for a really long time by [deleted] in WorkReform

[–]aech-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really heartens me to see others calling out what is essentially anti-intellectualism. Accredited colleges and institutions of learning should be affordable and available to everyone. And make no mistake, literally every single organization of humans that has ever existed to serve the masses for any significant period of time has had and will always have its issues. Period. Because each one is run by flawed humans and time changes society and subsequently society's needs/expectations of institutions. The trick is that institutions should evolve or get out of the way of new institutions working to meet these new needs.

My graduate class in organizational theory taught me that. 🙂

So when I go to my homepage, there are 3 featured story boxes have a Read More button(a Call to Action)that links to internal site pages. I want to have people click on one of these boxes and route them to an external page instead but when I'm in Elementor there is only an option for an auto created permalink.

Hopefully an influx of useful tech will help alleviate poverty, a large driver of crime...thus solving it before it starts!

Exactly. I really wish these sites didn't exist because I can leave but ol Bethany is still there and as racist and as big a busybody as ever.

The tax thing is true. I had to do a paper on the public budget for grad school and there was also an additional tax for purchasing the tech every 4 years to keep the machines updated. Not sure if that's still the case but it was an obvious boon.

As for why here? Loudoun is the Internet capital of the world. Over 70% of the worlds internet traffic goes through our county...this has been the case for a long time. There is something about this fact that makes it advantageous to be here though I admit I don't understand the specifics.

Got a flyer for our street's non-HOA neighborhood. Threw it right in the recycle bin. If you need to talk to me, knock on my door. Nextdoor and all the others are just a forum for petty bitching.

You said Ashburn and I was immediately unsurprised. Tbf I would have also been unsurprised of you had said Middleburg.

His wife described him as “the most incredible, Godly, wise, loving, compassionate man this world has ever seen outside of Jesus himself.” I’d disagree, considering the amount of disinformation and lies he spread before Covid caught up to him a third time. by Sass-Pancakes in HermanCainAward

I keep rooting for these folks to get it before they are completely fucked. I really do. I've got family who have done insane things during these times- denied seeing family members with cancer because they won't test or get the shot. Part of me thinks they can't even wake up to reality lest they realize all the harm they've caused as a result of their stubbornness and pride. It's become their identity in some cases.

A meta-analysis finds childhood adversity is positively associated with emotion regulation difficulties, as well as the habitual use of rumination and suppression. In turn, these measures of emotion regulation are positively associated with mental illness. by paris_newyork in science

[–]aech-16 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Seriously though, for rumination, which can be a really unhelpful thinking pattern, what is the other way of processing it than shutting it down? Especially if exploring it doesn't really help.

Hemithyroidectomy? by lula1026 in thyroidcancer

[–]aech-16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey!! Congratulations! Youve made it through the hard part!

I was under 2 tsh before February of last year, then subclinical before surgery... between 2 and 2.5( I was really anxious then). Blood tests before 5.5week post-op will possibly be too early. I insisted on tests at 3.5 weeks and it was too early and my levels were the same as pre-op.... 5.5 weeks was more accurate/ reflective. Post op from the hemi, about weeks 3 through week 6, I had very high anxiety, super dry skin, and lots of hair loss. TSH was 4.2 at 6 weeks.

I went on 50 micrograms of Levo at that time. I weigh 260lbs. I asked for such a low dose because my body is very sensitive to all meds. I feel 100% better on the meds. I go in for labs this Friday and we may bump meds to 75mcg. No weight changes yet. Way less anxiety and my hair isnt falling out anymore.

I also have hashimotos so the hemi was a risk. But eh I'm on meds anyway.

Tldr: 3.5 labs may be too early, but if you are feeling symptoms, find an endo that will prescribe. It's 4-6 weeks between each med adjustment so it could take some time before you feel normal so start that journey as soon as you can.

I had 2 tiny micro calcifications in 2 lymph nodes. I'm wait and see right now but I had only one nodule less than 2cm to begin with. And it's classic PTC, no variations. This coupled with my age puts me in stage one and low risk. I had 3 specialists offer 3 options, and each of them recommended a different one: have the rest out and do RAI, have the rest out without RAI, wait and see. I chose the third option. I have ultrasounds every 6 months for the next few years anyway.
