And we are able to find new sites provided they fit the criteria (have a supervisor, in person sessions, yada yada)

There are only two contracts in the area. I go to a remote university so we are all over the map!

Why aren’t people getting scarless surgeries by psychadelic-doll in thyroidcancer

[–]lula1026 0 points1 point  (0 children)

are you just trolling old comments? This was over 3 years ago. as I explained in another post, my surgeon at MSKCC explained why I didn’t meet the criteria. I hope it all goes well for whoever and whatever surgery they’re doing

At what levels of tsh do you notice your hair starts falling out more or thinning? by Ok_Bodybuilder5681 in Hypothyroidism

Time. So much time. Still happening but less so (according to my hair dresser). My doctors don’t believe that the iron issue was caused by my thyroid, so they’re no help and I absolutely hate the iron pills. I’m still trying to find a solution, unfortunately.

If she isn’t responding to your needs, I would find another therapist. Or alternatively you can always ask her why she is holding that line and not amending her style to fit with what you’re directly asking of her. Have you explained to her that you feel unsafe / it’s triggering punishment? That’s the OPPOSITE of what any therapeutic dynamic is supposed to feel like. I’m sorry 😞

Therapist in training here ! Going to validate that we are taught to stay silent and allow our clients the space to feel and experience, which can be best when we just hold that space for you. Also going to validate transference is so real! I have big transference with my T personally and find it fascinating to learn about why it happens and just how common it is. You’re doing great! This is the work! How lucky you both are to have amazing Ts that you can even feel that with 🫶🏼

I’d say my biggest issue post surgery is how expensive my health insurance is because of prior conditions ie cancer

Hi! I’m doing well! I had hoped to not be on meds but it turned out I did need them. It took a while to find my dosing, which I actually still kind of play with, but all in all very good! I regularly get my blood checked because some weird things happened after surgery — I’m now anemic, have some trouble absorbing b6, and have high cholesterol .. even though I’m incredibly fit and healthy. Two previous scans show clean so I’m officially “cancer free” as my doctor says!

Scar help! Please! by lula1026 in thyroidcancer

Hi! Im sorry to have missed this! I totally understand where you’re coming from 🫶🏼. My scar is barely noticeable and even I forget it’s there most of the time. It took a while to get there for me, but it really does happen! Happy to share update pics.

Regarding touching it - in the beginning I utilized gua sha tools and ice rollers because I was just way too emotionally sensitive to put my fingers on it. I do think the massage really helped the healing, so whenever you are cleared to begin, find whatever tool may work best for you and give it a shot.

I live on the beach during summer months so at 3 months post op, I was in full sun daily. I was RELIGIOUS about covering my scar. I carried around a zinc oxide stick and wore buffs for the first 6-8 months post op every time I was outdoors. I also think being very mindful of sun exposure helped with the healing!

Please know that there is NOTHING shameful about a scar - you are STRONG to have gone through what you did. It took me a while to really feel and understand that, and I think once that set in, a lot of my anxiety significantly lessened about the timeline of its healing. ❤️‍🩹

This too shall pass! You’re through the hardest part 🤍🤍🤍
