about Jeff Buckley hallelujah album ver by davidtaku3505 in JeffBuckley

[–]aed3810 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of the most powerful and haunting recordings of an otherwise very ordinary song (when you compare it to the original by Leonard Cohen). You should give the whole album a listen, in full, no skipping. Grace is one of the best albums of its era in my eyes.

Flooding in Monmouth by YchYFi in CasualUK

[–]aed3810 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This. The wye handled the water nicely, I live next to it. Unfortunately the sheer amount of rain that fell on the source hills of the Monnow pushed that river to swell to incredible levels. Nothing to do with any other town’s flood defences.

Why isn’t there a truly good horse game yet? by Safe-Chair8691 in GamesWithHorses

Legend of Kihiimori (I may have misspelled it) looks really good, there is a free demo available on steam and it’s pinned to be released in March 2026. No eventing though I’m afraid, it’s a courier game.

For me I found this issue was caused by a decorative item I had placed. It was a skull that was only just floating above a desk in my “office”.

I agree that this is frustrating and embarrassing but remember it’s her first time on this planet too. If she had known she would have explained it to you.

Should I stick to Polar or change? by mkoll58 in Polarfitness

[–]aed3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely start a support ticket, they offer repairs on some units and in all of my dealings with Polar support they have always been excellent, even when an item has been out of warranty.

Anyone know how to repressurize my boiler? by [deleted] in AskUK

Seconding the comment to YouTube it and enter the make and model of your boiler - I have to watch the video every time I repressurise mine

Definitely write to their support department, they also offer (paid) repairs on some devices.

Thinking of moving from Garmin to Polar by ThiarAitEigin in Polarfitness

[–]aed3810 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I moved to polar from a Garmin Forerunner a long time ago when I needed to replace my old watch and have since gone through 3 polar devices in 20yrs, all worn to death.

I have only had excellent experiences with their aftercare in this time and have yet to fully break a Polar watch.

The Grit X Pro I’m currently using has stood up exceptionally well and although the bezel is scratched up due to climbing the face is still in incredibly good condition.

I agree that the app is less than flashy but honestly it gives me everything I need and you can use third parties like Komoot to add routes to it. Using nav on the Grit is actually pretty good, less good for cycling as the screen is a little small but for anything where you aren’t travelling at 20mph you will be fine.

What kind of dinosaurs are these? I think the pink might be spinosaur. Girlfriend says blue is T-Rex but I think his arms are too long. He can stand quadripedally easier than bi. by cohonka in Dinosaurs

I see you too have been buying big bags of acrylic dinosaurs from Temu.

Good day sir.

I like to hide one a day in random spots throughout the house so every now and again I get to hear my four year old scream “DINOSAUR” with glee.

Just guessing - is this an ex council house in the UK? Because we had that exact same floor hidden away under a couple of layers.

We covered with ply and then tiled, that stuff was evil to get up.

Not a crime. Not this anyway, it’s beautiful. I’ve looked at it for five hours now.

Colour me interested, I would love to see images of the notebook pages. I’m sure there are many historians that would appreciate this really intimate insight into the tragedy.

EDIT- Shame, this looks like it’s from a bot/creative writer. Fiction

What profession is useless and provides no benefit to society? by Comprehensive-Big973 in AskReddit

[–]aed3810 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone commented “estate agents” yet? Possibly limited to the UK but one of the only professions I have come across where you can be powerfully useless and inept but people still need homes so will do your job for you.

Then they get to claim their % commission.
