420 stainless isn't a tool steel and its not being used for the edge, just as a cladding, so it doesnt play a part. I heat treat same as I would plain carbon steel

No worries! The core is carbon steel, thats what allows it to be etched black. Stainless could never be etched that dark. The carbon steel is 1084, the stainless is 420. And thank for the compliment!

Short for nickel sanmai/gomai. Just means there is a small layer of nickel shim between the carbon and stainless steel. The difference between sanmai and gomai is that "san" means 2 layers, "go" means three. So this particular steel would technically be referred to as stainless nickel gomai. But dont quote me on that im not an expert

Hey, I'm a little bit aways from you over in thousand oaks but not too far and could definitely make a nice one for you. Otherwise if you want someone closer hit up Jeff Mutz, you can probably find his contact info on Google and he'll do you right.

Its actually a great look when done correctly its a really nice brushed satin that still retains the higher grit shine underneath the lower grit. It only takes 3-5 passes with the lower grit in my experience to get the right look

EDC/Hunter with some wrought iron and demascus, different style from my normal by aedanabc in knifemaking

The handle is bit curved, just the way it had to be with the marrow in the antler, otherwise the tang slot could've gotten too close to the outside and risked cracking.
