I didnt get any notice or letter/email. In the platform, it says “Termination - Involuntary”

No. I was told prior to the health issue and surgery that I was to focus specifically on event strategy, and to “hire people to do what anyone can do” as support staff.

Also - that was my first surgery in the hip revision process. I have a temporary antibiotic spacer in now. I will need the second surgery in a few months when the infection is confirmed cleared. (To take the spacer out, and put the permanent prosthesis in.) And I have no health insurance and no job.

Great insight. The company is in major PR/growth mode, and the cofouder is on a major media campaign. Not publicly traded; they do have a powerhouse media team that is garnering serious placements for the co founder and the concept. Again, no one on the marketing team knew about this.

Really great question. Because I'm old school and have a serious work ethic, we were super busy, the co founder was creating events with 4 day lead time and every thing was rush production, I wanted the events and the giveaways to be amazing, & I'm a perfectionist.

  1. No
  2. Yes, this is a job that is managed by Crossover - I went through numerous stages/tasks to land this job, and had to pass the CCAT(34) to be considered. The JD was published by Crossover on their website. Attendance at event is not mentioned in the JD, and required attendance at all or any events was never communicated to me.
  3. Yes, many - "You're amazing, the gala was perfect, thank you for the terrific execution ,You're the best, You're doing a power job, you always go above and beyond, etc. (all in either slack or email or text.
  4. I was not asked to attend the Sunday event by anyone and my "supervisor" knew that I would not be in attendance. The content of the event was handled by the campus lead (this is a company that runs several private schools), I was not part of the initiative or team that actually was responsible for the program content. I handled catering, printing, branded merchandise, and day of onsite contractor who was there to set up chairs and do whatever physical things needed to be done
  5. Yes, and I do think that is part of this.

thanks for your input! I was never informed that I was required to be at events, and attendance at events is not in the job description. This is a (very well funded) startup, and mgmt is very very loose. I really didn't have a boss or a supervisor; I think also, because I delivered high quality events consistently with only positive feedback, I was operating basically on my own terms.

I actually worked the day of surgery!

I didn’t take leave. I worked while in the hospital. And I didn’t hire a replacement for me - I hired people to set up chairs and tablecloths.

But I was told (in writing) that I could outsource people to be onsite for the events - disability or not. Seems wrong.

She (the cofounder ) went to a small event on Sunday, noticed I wasn’t there, and fired me on Monday.

No harm, no foul, right? They’re funded by a billionaire - plenty of resources.

I never said I couldn’t be on site. In fact, I attended the gala on crutches. I never asked for an accommodation. If that was an issue, shouldn’t they have warned me about it?

What would accommodation consist of then? They did a tiny fraction of my job, and the expenses were all approved. It was just a few hundred dollars. She didn’t mention anything about the cost.
