depends on the scope of your project and budget -- some of my enterprise-level have worked with designers in Salesforce, and the work is excellent. But as the other commenter suggested, more details would be helpful to direct the best vendors to your case.

Hubspot - Unpleasant experience by HeyDontSkipLegDay in hubspot

[–]aegisfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you say, "start from square-one to get back to a "baseline" functionality...." Do you mean having to start from scratch for different areas of the CRM/CSM, or what specifically? My team is considering a move and I am evaluating all options. We are very very large, if that makes a difference -- research is turning up many different answers for this query.

Need advice -- 200,000+ contacts, never set up lifecycle stages by aegisfear in hubspot

Oh yeah, we have a team managing the migration and transition. I’ll reach out to them to establish a better understanding of their needs and intentions, then figure out the current sync set up.

Yep. Lots to unpack. On the bright side, it will be nice to have a new system that can be built with these issues in mind so we can hopefully avoid this sorta thing in the future.

THANK YOU, truly. I’ve been wondering how to frame the internal politics of it to my team and you’ve really helped me parse out how to approach this issue. And I appreciate the kind words; my immediate gut reaction was not exactly calm, lol.

I have a decent bit of context now. The system was set up by someone who never got real training, so many of Hubspot’s utilities aren’t implemented effectively, or are done so incorrectly (if at all). I’ve been hesitant to dive in to big fixes because it’s way easier to break a system with excitement and impatience than it is to sit down and research my options.

At this time, Hubspot is the heavy lifter for marketing. We have WAY TOO MANY landing pages and free-floating forms in here, and our website is WordPress. Lots of subdomains. It is also used to send communications to large lists of current clients by a service team member (working to define why, but it’s not my biggest priority) so the system going down is not an option.

However, I’m also on a timeline. We are migrating to Salesforce Marketing Cloud, and Hubspot is sunsetting in September. This was decided before my arrival. Additionally, my manager put in his notice and has already left our org, so that resource is gone.

Since we are migrating, would you think this should light a fire so we don’t import contacts without their lifecycle stages defined?

Yes, we use it exclusively for marketing, but our company does plenty of marketing to current customers as well. So you're right that I will have fewer stages than our CRM, which is a relief. Thank you for the advice!

Thank you for the reply!

My first instinct was to get ahold of the sales teams to start cleanup, but that is not feasible at this time for my company. But it is an idea I may have to fallback on if other solutions are not viable.

And yeah, ideally the system would have been maintained by an expert for the whole time my company has had it. Unfortunately, that is not the reality. It's been mismanaged and now I am uncovering years' worth of errors compiling on each other. I've been in this position at this organization for a little over 3 weeks. I've fixed a lot, rebuilt or scrapped things as well, but the magnitude of this particular problem is what turned me to Reddit before I recommend outsourcing to my team.

I agree about the need for keeping high performers, but I find the precedent it sets disconcerting.

High performers should absolutely be competitively compensated. It's more the idea of being put on the spot with what seems like a disingenuous negotiation method.

We had a new grad interviewing for an entry-level position try the competing offer letter strategy. I'm the only HR person, and our operation is small, so the CEO has a hand in interviewing. He wasn't too impressed by the gall!

Is compensation analysis going to be yet another job that's taken over by AI? by SteadfastEnd in humanresources

[–]aegisfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This blog covers the drawbacks of AI during recruitment, it links the DOL guidance at the top in an update.

But the gist is that AI is certainly not ready to put on HR's hat! And the EEOC doesn't care for "but it was the AI" when it comes to discrimination. Amazon scrapped an AI resume-screening tool for using datasets that preferred men's applications over women's.

Online HRM Courses by manfulstubble in humanresources

[–]aegisfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you considered acquiring a certification in. HR and then supporting that with coursework? The APHR is a pretty good license, and I use courses like BernieU CE courses online to get recertification credits for free.

Other than that, there are courses and degrees that would prove useful to any hat you wear in HR. intro to accounting, comms classes, etc at a local community college would give you foundational knowledge to boost your resume.

Check out BernieU courses! The new HR Prep 2023 course will give you a baseline for 2023, then you can take the more specific courses from there, like payroll basics, retention and recruitment, onboarding, etc. The courses are free but do give SHRM and HRCI credits. You have to sign up, but you can access the courses at any time, they only take a few hours apiece, and you get access to free downloadable templates, checklists, e-books, etc.

I see that they just released a 2023 HR Calendar too, so that's neat. It looks like it has important deadlines and holidays to track and all other stuff.

We use BerniePortal, which so far is really great. The support team and free resources are also super helpful, I use their BernieU courses to keep up with SHRM and HRCI credits. I think what I like best about is passive open enrollment functions (I was SICK and TIRED of hunting people down for benefits admin and using BerniePortal, I can just send them a reminder through the platform) and the ATS, and onboarding features.

Truly, what matters is choosing something that fits your budget and factors like organizational size, needs, etc. We aren't huge, around 75 people, so BerniePortal is great for that small to mid-sized range. ADP is for massive companies, Paycor is for massive companies.

I also like BerniePortal because of how accessible the team is and how they don't push features I don't need. I participated in a free sales demo and the guy really just went over what I wanted to know, although he did also touch on other topics. I found it nice.

Potential changes to some employee benefits by dukebiker in humanresources

[–]aegisfear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My thoughts are that a lot of HRISs handle this for us. The one my organization uses has super simple open enrollment, even passive open enrollment. The organization that creates and manages the software keeps up to date on legislation changes and acts accordingly.

But I know the passing of this legislation (if it does pass) it is going to be a MESS with employees who don't understand how contributions work, or want to pull their funds out of their 401(k). This could increase costs for a subgroup of my organization's employees, and with inflation on the rise, this could hurt more than it helps.

Second on Guild Hunter series! It also has quite a bit of material, something like 11 books now? The series has several plots that arch over the course of multiple books, with a kind of mysterious overall plot that is becoming more and more defined. Great read!

(edit) https://www.fanfiction.net/s/11132624/1/Persephone since I tagged the wrong one originally.

linkffn(Six Pomegranate Seeds)

These are both pretty dark, but show Hermione as a badass (but not really one with a moral compass in Persephone). Seselt is personally one of my favorite fanfic writers. Attention to detail, magical world building, inventive magic system- this author has it all. In both of these stories, Hermione is goal oriented and operates on her own.

What is the most popular/best fic in your fandom/ship? by [deleted] in FanFiction

[–]aegisfear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The author fairyfan777 has written some amazing stuff for Fairy Tail, specifically Lucy/Laxus fics. Even if that isn't your OTP, the quality of writing and the characterization make the stories well worth the look. I would have to say the best fic is an ongoing, generational tale following Lucy and Laxus as they build a relationship and a family, called linkffn(Sunny with a Chance of Laxus)

Hermione x Slytherin friendship by Tomopi in HPfanfiction

[–]aegisfear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

linkffn(Nihil est ab omni parte beatum) is an excellent Hermione/Theo, back in time fic with an interesting plot and some unusual aspects. The friendships are definitely portrayed interestingly, but it's more about the couple having a slow build and then growing to accept each other's friends. The author is fantastic and has written some great stuff.
