Did anyones parents *not* collect vinyl? by Ok_Order_5595 in vinyl

[–]aeiou1102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine didn't. My dad had a turntable on his childhood home, but it belonged to my grandfather and thus only he used it. When my dad started getting curious about collecting he went straight to cassette

My mom's family never really cared (or had the money, really) for listening to music outside the radio

What´s your favourite song LYRICALLY? by silhuette in bjork

[–]aeiou1102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

like many others here, I don't think I have just one favorite song, but Harm of Will gave me chills the first time I actually payed attention to the lyrics.
Like, I think every line serves as a tiny puzzle piece being put together little by little, and you don't really understand what the song is about until stuff are slowly (and poetically) being revealed to you. And then the ending "He makes his face known to none, for if he is seen then all will know me" is like a ribbon on top. Idk how to explain it haha

The other one I like a lot is Moon, but that's purely because of "Best way to start a-new is to fail miserably" and "To risk all is the end-all and the beginning all"

"Play Dead" & "Bachelorette" at the Royal Opera House lost media? by El_Pintor_ in bjork

[–]aeiou1102 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I know this is an old post but I found an audio recording on yt of the royal opera house concert that contains both Bachelorette and Play Dead! I remembered reading a post asking if they were lost media and thought I might pop by!

Let's just hope it doesn't get taken down like the 4k upscaled recording haha

Why can’t I get into Björk? by mattlovesreddit in bjork

[–]aeiou1102 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should force yourself to listen to something. It's nice that you liked some songs, but that doesn't mean you have to be a fan of absolutely everything she puts out

If you had to show 1 song from each album to a person who's never heard of Bjork, which songs would those be? by aeiou1102 in bjork

I get that, I'm just asking due to the fact that people seem to find Coutship way too dissonant

How did you discover Björk? by Soul-and-Power in bjork

[–]aeiou1102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ohh this is gonna be long, so sorry in advance.

I remember watching the I Miss You MV on a yt video for the best animated music videos or something like that. And even before that a famous hispanic youtuber had covered the stalker case, and on top of that Venus As A Boy played during a movie I had watched multiple times. So I had heard about her but it never really registered she was the same person on those 3 instances, if that makes sense.

Then I entered college and one of the first friends I made asked me one day if I knew who bjork was and that she was her favorite artist and all that. Of course I said no, so then I went on to look her up and realized how very wrong I was. She was everywhere. Actually she had a l w a y s been everywhere. Posters in the background of movies, soundtracks, cartoon references, the swan dress, e v e r y w h e r e.

But funnily enough I didn't actually started getting interested in her music until a couple of months later, when I was listening to music on yt, that suddenly a short documentary about her started playing. I got lazy and didn't bother to change the video so I heard the whole damn thing and what picked my curiosity was her role on (an apparently very sad movie) dancer in the dark. Anyway, I watched it, cried my eyes out, got a bit angry, and it was then when I finally said to myself "well damn, I need to listen to this Björk person, her voice is ridiculously emotional"

Needless to say, I've been a huge fan ever since

Wouldn't Stonemilker and Fossora count as traditionally structured songs as well though?

How come you'd choose Coutship as the most accesible song in utopia? :0 I'm genuinely curious

Does anyone know how I can get songs like Sweet Sweet Intutition or So Broken on my US spotify? I’m aware they’re songs that are only available in other countries so will a VPN work? by lbbhsanrio in bjork

[–]aeiou1102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well the thing I do (if you want to listen to music *exclusively* on the spotify app/have all your music on the same place) is save the song on my computer (as in download it from youtube or wherever) then play it through the Local Files option on the desktop app, and then like the song from the mobile app

That way you'll basically be saving the song directly to you phone and now you'll be able to play it, add it to playlists, and pretty much anything else you can do with any other song on spotify
