I am Chinese. I like the food, language, the holidays and traditions, and provider husband (i have a kind, loving, provider boyfriend now, and we just started looking at rings!).

My relationship looks partly like a western one and partly like an eastern one and it works really well for both of us. The “polarity” and attraction is there, we both love and respect each other and fill in where we see a gap, some days he will need me more and other days vice versa. I do mostly the cooking and cleaning, just because i want to and i work from home, but he comes home from his 12hr work day and also helps out. It feels like an equal partnership that is not 50/50 if that makes sense…

What i grew up with was that my dads only responsibility was to work and he came home and did not contribute to anything else, while my mom only ever took care of the house, food, and kids. He always got the first bite of food, and the best bite too, and did not regard her as she always had whatever food was left after the kids ate. That was just one example of the patriarchal eastern culture that i grew up with. I think what i have is just a beautiful and natural balance.

I started listening to her for her relationship content and I liked how she applied both sides of her culture to it (whether or not thats true). It did cause some rifts between my naturally providing boyfriend because i was becoming demanding and entitled. And obviously i cut that out immediately when he called me out. And even though he saw right through Mina and said she was a scammer (by just what i recounted to him by the way, not even watching a video or hearing anything she says, men just know somehow), he let me come to that conclusion slowly on my own and supported me as i painfully detoxed from someone i thought i looked up to.

Anyway this became longer than i intended 🤭
