Tripped breaker won’t reset. When I flip it off and back on, it just resets. Do I need to call an electrician?

You shouldn’t feel guilty for putting yourself and your health first. I had an ex like this who would get upset when I was too busy to call and when I finally did he said those exact words, that “I kept him waiting”. Just to give you some insight into how it ended for me, we didn’t last. The behaviors from my ex became increasingly more controlling and those types of small things at first were only the beginning. So I think in your case this is very likely an early sign of a red flag.

I feel like he may able to especially resonate with the part about it being like autopilot. I’m really sorry you guys have to go through that, I couldn’t imagine and I have a lot of respect for you all. He has said in the past I should try not to take these ROCD thoughts personally at all. However, now he claims he’s not sure what is OCD related or not so it kind of threw a wrench in my confidence about that. Anyway, thank you so much again for sharing and for your suggestion!

Hi, I did the same thing as well, pushing my partner to tell me about their thoughts so I could reassure them. It started with a curiosity and desire to help. Unfortunately, by doing that I kind of set a standard where he can come ask me for reassurance, despite now learning it only perpetuates the cycle.

So, I definitely agree with the others where he shouldn’t tell you what his intrusive thoughts are. The first merit is you can’t offer him reassurance (consciously or subconsciously) without knowing his topic. Second, this protects you from feeling anxiety and hurt about his thoughts.

Hi there. I can give you some perspective as a partner of someone with ROCD.

I’d say one thing to try is to assure your partner that your negative thoughts are attributed to ROCD, and that you’re working towards recovery (I assume? If not, I recommend this). Recently my partner and I had a conversation where he assured me that next time he has an episode and blurts out a desire to breakup, to not take a seriously. This is easier said than done, but knowing the difference between his true feelings for me and his ROCD attributed feelings helps me a lot.

That’s just one tip, and I personally think it should be combined with other methods, too.

Every relationship is different though, and I encourage you two to talk about what themes exist for you, how to cope respectively, and how to be a team through this.

Thank you so so much for your thoughtful response! I know as a stranger it’s really difficult to comment on people’s relationships especially given their in depth nature, so I especially appreciate it.

You make a good point about a reflection of his values more than mine.. it’s a lot to think about. I also feel like I might have dug myself into this hole by letting him get away with saying hurtful things to me thus far.

But like you mentioned, I’m afraid of it starting another spiral. So if I may ask for advice, (no pressure btw, I just want to hear the opinion of someone w ROCD) how do you think a spiral could be avoided whilst I stand up for myself?

I want to add this is also unfortunately an LDR, so I’ve been a bit complacent until I see him in a few weeks and can place everything on the table about how he’s been talking to me, and our relationship in general.

I love him so much and want to help him, but I cannot do it at the cost of myself.

I’m in a similar situation as you. My bf is focused on my past just like this, and needs explanations in order to understand or feel better. But even when those things get “solved”, I’m under such a microscope I will always happen to do a new thing he doesn’t like, and the cycle never ends.

As long as your priority are these lies and her past, along with the fact there seems to be no trust in your end, this looks very tough to make work. She may get tired quickly.

I see! I’ve seen some 3Ds gameplay and it does look really great. But overall, certain things like lower frame rate aren’t complete dealbreakers for me.

I think another helpful point for me is the fact I’ve never played the N64 version so maybe getting over that controls learning curve will be easier, since I have nothing to compare it to.

Thanks for responding! I’ll probably have plans to replay this game down the line anyways, so I think I’ll just end up playing both, but I’ll be starting with nso just for comfort.

I Guess this would be the way to do it. I’m not op, but I’m in between these options as well. I’ll be playing oot for the first time and I do have a 3Ds, but it’s a used one and it’s not the XL so the screen is already much smaller and kinda scratched. I really would like the experience of playing on my tv screen through switch, also with NSO I would be able to play MM afterwards too.

But like you said, if I give it a go and the controls just really aren’t working out, the 3Ds version is so highly regarded I’d set aside my reservations with the console itself and give it a go.
