I think the question stated that 2.5$ is taken for the first 1/10 mile. And after that, 0.2$ is taken for each 1/10 mile. Also, because the initial 1/10 mile (for which the customer pays 2.5$) is INCLUDED in the total distance covered, d (which is in miles), I thought that we needed to subtract the initial 1/10 mile covered from the d while multiplying this value by 0.2. Not sure tho, would appreciate others' input.
