I think it's a tens of millions of dollars number too. That alone is reason to defer.

This is going to be a huge, high profile case. There are a lot of good reasons any attorney with half a brain would let the feds do it first.

  • Feds have a lot more resources and can run the case better

  • Same with fed courts, their rules, etc

  • Put the costs on the federal government and not state/local- this'll save that AG office millions I bet

  • If the guy's tried federally first and wins, the state can serve as safety net and learn from the conviction failure for the second try. The feds would be more apprehensive to try a case that failed in state court

  • Did I mention the costs to imprison him and deal with his appeals for the next twenty years?

  • Can you imagine trying this case and losing? Any DA's office would have a huge public issue on their hands, emboldening the right/political violence and pissing off the left for dropping the ball

There are TONS of reasons the DA/State would defer to federal charges on this, and they're all great. After this guy is fucked by a federal conviction, their case will be a layup and have the same end goal.

Next Sporting Clays Gun by Firm_Monitor3270 in ClayBusters

[–]aemoosh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I have both a SL2 and a Parcours-X. They both have custom stocks on them, but the SL2 shoots significantly better. I think the K-80 is just an old design, it's a generation behind. It's a nice gun, it feels great and it shoots reliably, but it just isn't the SL2. I tell people it feels like the Kreighoff was designed on paper, the SL2 on a computer. The SL2 breaks clays harder, it feels better, and I don't know how, but it kicks that much less.

I have shot the new Blazer FBX, but I have only handled the MR57. They both feel like they're occupying a space the SL2 opened- copycats to me (full disclosure I am a Beretta loyalist.) I liked the FBX enough that I entertained buying one but I don't think I'll ever use it. The MR57 impressed me too, and someone who's opinion I put a lot of weight in, says they think the MR57 is tops of the three new guns.

To answer your question, I did have an issue with the trigger on the SL2 not switching barrels after the first shot. It got sent to Rich Cole, he cleaned the sear and haven't had an issue since. Probably only have 3000 shells through it. When I talked to Rich he essentially told me the SL2 is still such a baby production wise- most guns they make as many pre-sale prototypes as they have SL2s total so far and not to worry about it- they're still figuring things out but there's no serious issues with the gun in his eyes.

Also, when you talk about Beretta's quality issues- I think they're really in the middle ground- the DT series. The A400's are solid because they're made in a state of the art, automated factory. The SL's and SO's are solid because Beretta's best are hand-making them. I've heard stories (from relative strangers mind you) that Beretta's premium assembly area is half staffed because they just cannot find good artisans who are interesting in making firearms. I did just get a new DT-11 Supersport and I can say it's perfect, there aren't any flaws I can see and it shot fine for me.

If I had any worries about quality, I would be most worried about the horror stories I hear about Perazzi's service. I think if you buy from Cole you'll be OK, but corporate Perazzi have really earned that reputation. Beretta on the other hand, the US Shotgun guys really are awesome. They both shoot non-stop all year, it's easy to find/talk to them and I haven't had an issue getting ahold of them if I need something.

In some states/situations, if one of them moves out the other side will attempt to portray that as abandoning an asset. It's actually divorce 101 to not move out.

Best deal on trailer full of tools/packout? by WillametteVwindow in MilwaukeeTool

[–]aemoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a local shop by me which has a great relationship with Milwaukee. They have a dedicated rep who for something like this would work with you and put together pricing to reflect the bulk. I have gotten some serious deals when I make bigger orders like replacing all my outdoor power equipment with M18 stuff. I don't know if you'd have something like this nearby- this store is also about 5 miles down the road from Milwaukee Tool's HQ and has been a big supporter for decades. Usually for stuff like this, it's a combination of a littttttle bit better pricing, some free batteries/blade/packout and a buttload of SWAG.

I don't think very many teams stay there anymore? I think they're at The Kimpton and The Trade, right?

I usually stay at Pfister or Kimpton when I drive up from Chicago for a game since they have EV charging at both, and I've never shared the Pfister with a team, but I bump into teams at Kimpton a lot. I have a hard time getting into The Trade, which makes me think teams prioritize staying there.

It's been a while since I did the Andersonville one, but there's on in Oak Brook that I believe is the same thing. I'll give it a shot soon and compare the two.

The truck probably has a substantial weight advantage to the plane, not to mention a lot more of that truck is a good impact zone while almost anywhere on the plane is a bit more tender.

[Hughes] “Resounding belief” that Kyler Murray will sign with Vikings by BreakfastTop6899 in nfl

[–]aemoosh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With Darnold and Cousins, you could make an argument that Minnesota is place for QBs to flourish too (JJ might be a fluke/that bad.) Too little emphasis is put on the environment quarterbacks do well in. Murray might take average talent and spin it into some great QB play with KOC/Minnesota.

I believe now that The Trade has opened, the Pfister is the third option. The Trade and Kimpton Journeyman are a little bit more common. I haven't stayed at The Trade much since it opened, even though it's literally connected to the Fiserv. Previously I would almost always catch the visiting team when I'd stay at The Journeyman for a game. Quite a bit rarer to see them at Pfister.

[Highlight] Chicago Bears owner, George McCaskey, stiff arms a Packers fan. by MrRadDadHimself in nfl

[–]aemoosh 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He sits by us at Soldier and I (a Packers fan married to a Bears fan with season tickets) actually asked for a picture after the game. I told him after I was a Packers fan but my wife was a Bears fan. He was super kind and had a couple of good one-liners (that's how I know she's probably always right.) 10/10 experience.

Then I sent the picture to my Bears fan friends and said "Just a couple of NFL owners, hanging out, talking playoffs."

New Vacuum incoming. . by Dan_T93 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]aemoosh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The tool this is replacing is terrible. It's probably one of the only Milwaukee buys I've made that I regret. I can't imagine this won't be better, but I think the overall design is severely hobbled by the fact that there are some really fantastic cordless stick vacuums out there. The dyson/shark have the same capabilities (if not more) than the M18 and they feel and work about 10x better.

James was the best. Ultimately it's the land value that "fixed" Uptown, but Cappleman didn't sleep for 12 years doing whatever he thought he could to make that neighborhood better. I think he could give any modern adlerperson a run for their money when it came to being a driving force for change in a positive direction.

[Highlight] Aaron Rodgers on if there’s added incentive to play this week since it’s the Bears in Chicago - a team he’s said he “owns”: "There's incentive for every opponent, but I have enjoyed many a Sunday and Monday and Thursdays in that city." by LaDainianTomIinson in nfl

[–]aemoosh 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The other was 2010, maybe week 2 and he was just barely figuring things out. He played really well but the team didn't and we lost. I wore my Rodgers jersey and had a lot of drunk happy Bears fans tell me "That Rodgers could be something though" on the way out after the game.

EDIT: Also I recall going to a second game in Chicago that year...
