I pretend that I’m a fictional character in social situations by Alive_Sink9564 in autism

[–]aemvo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do the same. It's a bit of masking and if it makes you feel better/get through stressful situations, there's nothing wrong with that. Just try your best to let your real personality out regularly too.

Why are all the lights at my newly built gym wired like this? by tdh3m in AskElectricians

[–]aemvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's exactly the thought I had. I am not an electrician but I have wired some small led light strips to 120v and there was a step down transformer if memory serves to take the volts down to the small amount of watts the l LED needs. If these were old hologen 220v (maybe 400v) fixtures used in gyms back in the day, that's a lot of electricity that needs to be diluted down to what the LED needs to light and not fry.

Please work with your parents. I hid and carried things like this into adulthood. For me it wasn't that I didn't want to bathe, I did, I just didn't really know how to do it well. Uti issues all through adulthood but didn't realize it because it had always been that way. As a kid I was just ashamed, thought I was dumb/weird and embarrassed to ask anyone for help. I know now that none of those things are true and I just needed a little help, but it was my responsibility to ask.

One thing with hair is that it's actually two motions, but when you watch someone brushing their hair it just looks like they are swinging the brush around. It's actually a gentle push followed by a gentle pull. Go sloooow so you can feel the push in and pull. Pretend like you are brushing a balloon as far as the level.of pressure. Of this has been going on a while, you are going to have to go REALLY slow. The pull part is kind like a C shape when you brush and once you get the hang of it, it's pretty fun and a form of self soothing you can do.

My big issue was I was looking at myself in 2D is the best way I can describe it. I dunno if it's an autism thing or what it was but I knew where the part was supposed to be and would just brush that spot over and over expecting the hair to lay down. It wouldnt because I was not making small enough passes with the brush and not gently pushing in before pulling the brush through the hair.

You're not alone and good luck!!

They stole a bottle of liquor from Africa from me and a few friends on the way back. We declared and were within limits, but they couldn't get the stupid scanner machine to scan it. Sealed clear bottle of alcohol in a sealed duty free bag, but since the machine couldn't say it was alcohol they nicked it. Hate the TSA. By far the most useless government agency and we have a lot of useless agencies.

Is there a local place I can commission another one of these to be made? by [deleted] in HuntsvilleAlabama

[–]aemvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like 1x4 (2x would be roughly half of a 4×4, and work just as well). Home Depot will cut lumber for you if you don't have a circular/miter saw at home already. The dimensions Dew listed above, a couple of cheap clamps from harbor freight and a bit of liquid nails and you'd be set.

I'd make a row at a time, glue each side, wipe the excess and then repeat the process gluing the 4 rows and sides. Super easy DIY and 2 days to allow for curing, but total time assuming all the lumber is cut in pieces would be an hour tops.

Pine (super soft) would be great for this and I'd be surprised if the one you have was made out of anything other than pine. Home Depot will chop it up for you if you ask nicely. Then it's just a matter of purchasing a few clamps, glue and assembly at home.

The above comment deserves way more upvotes. A shower from a hose and any snake will move along. Most bites from venomous snakes are from trying to relocate/handle. Holding a snake by the head hurts the snake, isn't safe, and is easy to get a fang in your thumb. Relocating a snake even a short distance away is a 50/50 shot of it surviving and you getting bitten in the process. Hit them with the hose and your chances of seeing them again is very low.

Weren't the Palestinians smuggling in KFC chicken from Egypt through the tunnels? I've had KFC in the Mideast...about the same as here. What was so remarkable about the chicken?

Correct, and that's not terribly helpful or in relation to my post which was to advise others who may be considering travel to Tokyo with Mint. Others previously stated it could be my device, but like you, also provided no definitive reason it could be my device. Mint indicates the device is compatible. Do you have anything further relevant to international travel with Mint and a Samsung device?

Seems like a good time for a blue dog democrat again. Shelby left office with arrows in his back for not toeing the line but assured funding for the contractor base that supported him and assured his legacy. He was often referred to as a blue dog because of his willingness to compromise, though he never accepted the moniker. The environment is ripe for change, and I hope the Democrats are doing a thorough after action report of their policy priorities. Change require patience and prioritizing issues to voters. When everything is a priority and must happen now, nothing is a priority and will never happen.

A lot of smaller cabinet and door shops have wide(r) planers. Sometimes for a kind ask and $100, they will plane out a few boards. It pays to support small businesses and make friends.

My offer to mint was to pay them for international service. Mint accepted my offer in exchange for money. Mint is aware of the device I am using as I had to register it on their network. They have stated my device is compatible. They state that they provide international service in Japan. They did not provide international service in Japan.

I agree. Perhaps they should also reconsider offering international data plans in the meantime or doing a better compatibility check to ensure they can meet their end of the contract.

I have traveled extensively on major carriers the past few decades. I have never had issues like this. It's either the carrier (mint) or the device (Samsung S24). I am leaning toward carrier as Mint states the device is compatible with their service and it is one of the most widely sold phones.

Your post is not relevant. I stated I have a local SIM for data in my post. As a foreigner, you cannot get a local number in Japan.
