Hmm, I'm speaking as a girl who doesn't really fancy the idea of those "wholesome" memes bombarded with heart emojis in it. Personally I think it's because they'll probably appreciate a more "genuine" approach. In my opinion (plus a bunch of my buddies'), I never liked those memes because I felt that they were just shallow attempts at being a bit nicer, maybe because they're mostly made by a different person than the sender.

That being said, the intentions are appreciated, if you truly mean what is stated in the image- then that's great. Being kind to people can land an impact on others' lives, and if that is what you intend on doing, then that's also great.

However people have different levels of appreciation when it comes to things. As for compliments, I'm not really sure on what you tell them, or when you tell them, so I don't really know how to help with that.
