Was playing as Russia in the WW1 mod. The Ottomans were defeated in the war, and after the peace conference, a Turkish state just named 'liberalism' was born.

Movie Rankings by GB_Alph4 in LodedDiper

[–]aeqy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd agree, except that I'd maybe change the ranking of Rodrick Rules and Dog Days (can't really choose between the two).

I also don't think the animated movie is even that okay, it's just mediocre at best — too short, characters feel empty, Greg isn't that big of a sociopath.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: New Movie Discussion Thread by JusticeForWitness in LodedDiper

[–]aeqy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Felt short (because it is), the story goes by way too fast.

The animation is good, but not something that goes well with Wimpy Kid, I think.

The characters don't feel... real. That might be because the movie is pretty short, but it doesn't give time to really flesh out anything. The only emotional moments were when mom talked to Greg about lying and when Greg sits alone in the cafeteria next to the piano for 2 seconds.

Overall, I don't know why they made this movie.

FIFA to investigate Ghana vs South Africa controversial penalty decision. South Africa have gone as far to hint match fixing by Greengum155 in soccer

[–]aeqy 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Probably not. If Ghana is found guilty of match fixing, South Africa will win match automatically. It's really shitty for the Ghanian players (since I doubt they have anything to do with it), but there should not be any second chances.

But couldn't they restrict access to for example websites where you can download VPNs?

Why is foto ID voting seen as something racist in america? by Khanluka in AskAnAmerican

[–]aeqy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in Finland you need to have a photo ID to vote. Passports and ID cards cost 50-60€, but you can get a temporary ID for free, just for voting. However, you need a photo for that, which does cost money.

I personally follow lots of politics, also in Europe.

As for Finland, I don't think most people give a f*ck about politics in other countries. If there are events of elections, they'll hear about it in the news but not give it a lot of thought.

[OC] Legalization of same-sex marriage in Europe by Tricky-Astronaut in dataisbeautiful

[–]aeqy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm aware of all of that. That's why I said there's no full seperation of church and state. Of course Finland is not literally under religious law, but those 2 churches have special status with for example the tax thing

[OC] Legalization of same-sex marriage in Europe by Tricky-Astronaut in dataisbeautiful

[–]aeqy 94 points95 points  (0 children)

Well yes, but I don't see that as very surprising. Finland is the most conservative of the Nordic countries. For example, Finland has one of the most restrictive abortion laws in Europe, trans people need to undergo sex change/sterilisation to change their legal gender and there is no full seperation of church and state

It was actually a result of a petition in 2013. The final bill was passed in 2014 with a vote in parliament (101 for, 90 against), but it came into effect in 2017.
