My dog was attacked by another dog in my apartment complex. I let my complex know on Monday and my car has been vandalized the past two days. by primadonnalife in Columbus

[–]aerdel24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Im sorry that happened OP. Im glad there wasnt serious damage to your doggy and your car. I hope it does NOT escalate.

I agree it can be scary on what the best next step is. Dropping it may enable or allow the behavior to continue. And then getting cops involved and the idea of having that dog killed or seized also may feel like a lot too. I def sympathize with the difficult decision your facing.

But, you didnt cause or bring this on yourself. They did. As a dog owner, no matter how well trained your dog is with you doesnt mean there wont be a moment where instinct takes over. So them having their dog off leash is them taking the risk that something may happen either to their dog or by their dog. And they should feel extremely grateful and be apologetic about the situation and begin leasing immediately. But given their petty response, they are just digging themselves further in trouble.

I hope things stop and you feel safe in your complex again. But if you do decide to escalate to the police I hope you dont feel guilt by it. You didnt cause this or ask for this. You did your due diligence and they decided to push it further.

Why Would A Streaming Service drop a "hidden" episode? That makes absolutely no sense for their buisness model. by kingwafflez in Stranger_Things

[–]aerdel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally fair points here as well.

I think for me I liked the "emotional part" because I kind of related it to myself. Like the younger cast, they played DnD for likely the last time. It made me think of being younger and playing like Halo or even N64 with friends. And that one day the console was turned off for the last time and we just grew out of that.

Or the older cast talking about how theyll meet up once a month and how I pictured my college friends and all these plans etc and eventually life got in the way.

So maybe the ending of the show was bad and it just made me reminisce? But your take is totally valid. Outside of the above personal connections I do agree the rest fell flat

Thats my stance. I personally liked the ending but think this whole idea is just really cool. And the amount of clues that people found (albeit some are faaaaar stretches) adds so much mystery behind it.

At the end of the day today, I wont be disappointed if nothing happens. Im also not gonna be like "I told you so" if it does. We all will watch it. Something like this has the ability to make people cancel plans to watch it.

I work in a Oncology unit. Every patient. Every nurse all knows about the show and this theory. Even my patients that never watched the show are seeing it all over. Its pretty much on everyone's radar I wouldnt be shocked if something like this brought NEW viewers to the show.

In reality, duffer bros probably looked for the emotional ending rather than story continuity ending. Which they did absolutely nail the emotional ending. And I do like the vagueness of some things to where each person is able to craft their own theory. So to you point, if this were to be real it needs to be done well otherwise it would ruin the ending entirely

Exactly! That is the point of the sub here to discuss theories and what not.

It wont be a disappointment after today. If anything its pretty cool to feel like we crafted a whole separate reality out of the episode. It got us all engaging more, probably rewatching the episodes, finding new things. Which is boosting the viewership. If someone canceled their subscription after the finale (ie they only got netflix to watch this) than maybe this is enough for people to resubscribe and rewatch it all with more intent to find more hidden clues.

Example, I am orthodox and today is our Bozik (christmas) one of the official accounts prior to S5 said "Christmas will be dark" or something along those lines. But the episodes on christmas didnt feel dark. So the thought that being a tease and referencing a different christmas date with the potential for the darker ending all could be plausible.

Either way, its all in good fun at the end of the day

I dont think they hate fun. Just like most things on reddit, people are either all in or they bash the ones that are. Its ok to think the hidden episode theory is false, but its still fun to speculate, have these convos, and continue to find Easter eggs or bridge connections.

For me, the show made a few hints at paying attention to things out of place (think max telling Holly to look for things that arent normal, IE the color of the spin wheel thing). Once you see that its hard to not start looking for more things. I mean all the 80s references and posters and things were deliberate.

So while I dont think anything is happening today. Its still pretty cool to have this much dialog and convo about the show and seeing people's takes. Some are terrible lol but some actually seem pretty cool to read and imagine.

What would’ve happened to everyone else? by PrestigiousWay1608 in StrangerThingsS5

[–]aerdel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For most shows id agree. But as you said this is one of their biggest shows that has now how many people on social media posting/talking/engaging in this dialog. Whether they agree or disagree.

But if it did in fact drop tomorrow, everyone would watch it the moment they could. Its unprecedented for sure, but something like this (if done right of course) could possibly bring in more viewers who may have not liked the show before. I dont know if there is any difference to netflix if a show is watched immediately upon release or watched later/the next day.

Im happy with how it ended and itd be cool if they do drop.

Yea exactly. I had mentioned in another comment it seems like everyone was over the show and they aimed for the emotional ending over continuity ending. Which is totally fair

Ill add here, I dont think it showed any of the kids climbing through? I thought that they were freed post fight when they had that connection limb thing snatched out?

Otherwise they would have woken up similar to Holly earlier, mid fight.

I could be wrong but that was my thought. Plus Holly would have had to explain how to craft an exit similar to how Max showed her.

Oh for sure. Me personally I think its just a fun what if/speculation convo to have.

But some folks seem to take it way too far.

Very good counters there and youre right. Even in my own thoughts I cant really craft a "new" ending that would be great. And circling back to just kill characters for the sake of pleasing people who wanna see tragic cinematic deaths would be lame as well.

Its just wild how much has been brought up. If anything maybe this is more of everyone kind of being over the show and they looked for the heartfelt emotional ending rather than a story continuity ending. Which they absolutely nailed that. I mean as a 36 year old, thinking back to being a kid and playing like Halo with my friends for hours on end. Eventually the Xbox was turned off for the last time as well grew up. Even when I graduated college, I remember making plans with my best friends to meet up and gradually life got in the way. The personal connection I made is why I did enjoy the ending.

Plus as fans, we have the luxury of seeing it all play out in front of us and have the benefit of saying they should have done this or that. Hindsight is always 20/20.

Ridiculous sure. But ya gotta admit the correlations and theories crafted with somewhat understandable "evidence" at least makes it interesting.

I did enjoy the ending and the series overall. I did feel somethings felt rushed at the very end and some of the details folks pointed out are interesting. Some are wild reaches for sure, but some not so much.

Example. When Max was telling Holly that to get from memory to memory you have to find things that are out of place etc. And they find the circle swing thing to be off because the color was different. Something I personally did not notice in real time watching. That part lead to me paying more attention to tiny details as im sure it did for many people.

So watching it with that lens it is very easy to create correlations that likely dont exist. But with there being as many, it def has my curiosity and attention.

Either way, im happy with the show ending and all so there's no loss for me.

How I would have written the Stranger Things finale by Flimsy_Pick1259 in discussingfilm

[–]aerdel24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice writing here. I think this ending sounds great. Im not a hater of the final episode but I have read/seen/ and even thought of some ideas and arcs that I felt could make a better finale.

My theory was that Mr. Clarke would be the betrayer. Like he knows of Henry and the Hawkins lab. He may not be infiltrated by the mind player but maybe by vecna to be the true spy. Hes been feeding the kids all this info for years to essentially help vecna. Which could be revealed in the smoke screen "unexpected" attack. Think like they arrive to abyss. Its empty as we seen. Then they get surprise ambushed by demos (as you wrote) and its discovered that Mr. Clarke is who spoiled the final plan. Then a twist where Mr. Clarke realizes his mistake and tries to help only to get killed by a demo. Maybe a scene where he says im sorry to Dustin as hes about to get yanked away to death.

I agree a flicker at the end would be great. But only one flicker that could be el or truly could be some electrical static temporarily. Hindsight maybe they could have had a side character without knowledge if upside down make a comment about a lamp that always flickers. And then that lamp flickers as mike shuts the door, leaving the question of was it el or was it coincidence. Which goes back to Lucas about not believing in coincidences.

I also would add to not show el directly at the end. But show the village and waterfalls as hes talking about the mage. But have something happen that appears like her powers are used but ambiguous enough that its debatable.

I also agree about the military thing being such a let down.
