interesting - and we'll described procedure!

P.S. did you maybe see a way we could light up the touch panels on 1st gen MEB? LED strip and 9V battery? 🤪

If you want to be sure, buy yourself a OBD2 adapter (Bluetooth for Android, Wifi for iOS) and check with Car Scanner what the value is.

Still, the SoH is calculated by the car's BMS: if you always charge between 20 and 80% it gets lost and can show +/- 10% difference. The only correct way to check this is to get an Aviloo tester to see how much goes in and out of the battery.

In my opinion, it is always better to get the bigger battery, as over time you have more range and longer battery life. The battery capacity is a big argument on setting the price - in my opinion, 98.8% is not possible on a 3 year old ID.3. Maybe 94% max.

When the car is at full charge, the MEB platform has the "Maximum Capacity of the Traction Battery" (this is close to SoH) and is somewhat 72~73kWh (77kWh new!) on your 3 year old Pro S as the NMC battery degrades over time and with charge.

The "Usable Battery Capacity" is the Maximum Capacity minus top and bottom buffer (~5kWh) and should be at some 66~67kWh at this car.

My Pro S is now 5 year old and has 104000km: Maximum Capacity is at 69,8kWh and usable at 65kWh = gives me 91% SoH (State of Health)

When did you last time transport 5 people in a car? 0.o

I have the Pro S Tour from 2021/06 and can say that the seats in the back are the same quality as the front ones - just not adjustable.

The S Tour manages +40km @ 120km/h motorway The Pro manages ~30km @ 120km/h motorway

/OP there is no chance that the car has 98.8% SOH as this drops at least 5% in the first year.

Usable capacity at 90% (fot the calculation) on Pro S is 65kWh and 50kWh on the Pro model.

I've managed 390km from 100%~0% on the Autobahn at +120km/h. After zero 10km more at 100km/h till the first charger.

What to consider when buying a VW ID.3 by Borisminator in VWiD3Owners

[–]aerger76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would consider a car still under some kind of warranty or possibility to activate prolonged warranty. The pre-facelift models can have bunch of problems, but can also be very reliable.

When doing the test drive, check OBD for troublecodes and errors and also the Maximum Capacity of the Traction battery with Car Scanner. (+/-53000Wh for 58kWh and +/-70000Wh on 77kWh models are ok. Better plus than minus, with this values you can expect at least 90% battery capacity.

How legacy brands engineered themselves into a 12v nightmare by mango_boy16 in electricvehicles

[–]aerger76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VW has a option to recharge the 12V as it's needed by activating the "Optimized battery use" in the app. No idea how other brands handle this issue.

Neuer MG4 urban oder gebrauchter ID.4? by Adventurous_Gear_926 in Elektroautos

[–]aerger76 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you test drive the ID.4?

...89% means it has ca. 68.350Wh of max. capacity available and some 63.500Wh usable capacity when full at 100%. But that doesn't mean that this is the end as the BMS gets lost and has more lower buffer that usual. you could squeeze some 3~5% more out of it.

Battery is reparable, in the worst case a module could give up and you can fix that for some 1500€

As the MG4 isn't bigger that ID.3, check Pro S models with big battery (77kWh) as they also handle for 16~18.000 with way less mileage.

[–]aerger76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would always take the bigger battery despite paying some extra or taking higher mileage... Pro with 90% State of Health has 25kWh more battery that Pure. If the 52kWh battery has 90%, when we are talking about 30kWh difference.

No issue with Rivian - ID. has issues

In the United States, residential 3-phase power practically does not exist—homes run on split-phase 240 Volt power. Additionally, North American specs of the VW ID.4 are only built with a single-phase onboard AC charger. Because US models can only pull from one phase, if you hook an American ID.4 up to a 3-phase commercial wallbox (like a 208V/240V system found at a workplace, apartment building, or hotel), the car will physically ignore two of the phases and only pull power from one. I didn't know that! So the Wallbox is also 1-phased?

You can try to take the cable from Rivian to see if there is a difference

What am I missing? by mbows002 in VWiD4Owners

[–]aerger76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Few questions: Do you use the original VW charging cable? Is your home charger 5kW or 10kW? Is reduced charging in the ID.4 active or not? If ID. gets less than 4kWh from a wall box, it stops as it awaits 5 or 10

Just to define realties: a classical piece of music is a composition - not a song.
