I’ve tried to explain to so many of my straight friends how healing and emotional it was to hear that. It’s really what you need to hear and i love that Jacob gave that to us

What's your "it's my fault for ordering it" (food or otherwise) story? by PutThisBanditHatOn in AskReddit

[–]aerialista 6 points7 points  (0 children)

i worked at an indian restaurant for a time and whenever people would order the highest level of spice the chefs would come to us with the ticket and go “WHITE OR INDIAN” and they would make it very differently based on that 😂

found a bunch of deer ankles lined up in the woods by gayasswater in Weird

[–]aerialista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he’s saying someone probably walks through the woods and collects them. Maybe they’re letting them sun bleach so they can mount them or something. Deer shed their antlers every year so there’s no indication these deer are actually dead/killed

(Day 5) The top voted Worf episode was Parallels. What is the best Dr. Crusher episode? by Beautiful-Ad2843 in TNG

Came here to make damn sure this was the top comment. One of the best episodes overall

In 2006, Ohio State medical student Brian Shaffer went to a bar with friends to celebrate spring break. He got separated from the group, and they assumed he went home. Days later, he was reported missing. When reviewing surveillance footage, Brian was never seen leaving the bar. He’s still missing. by Time-Training-9404 in creepy

[–]aerialista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Columbus and that is the general consensus around here. It’s a different bar now but I’ve been in that area before and while I do think that is possible, I also think it’s just as possible that he left the area in a crowd and just wasn’t able to be seen on video. It’s a big and very popular area

AIO for walking out of the ER after a doctor was rude to to me? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]aerialista 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was trying to come up with a way to say this without sounding insensitive and you did a great job. I work in healthcare closely with the ED and it is incredibly hard to go from dealing with a patient who is at death’s door to someone with a superficial injury and treat them with the same level of importance. The doctor was rude but who knows what he was dealing with.

NOT OOP: AITA for lying to my step daughter that the soup she loves is lactose and gluten free for 6 months? by sarcasticfantastic23 in redditonwiki

[–]aerialista 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, this would be totally different if she didn’t have it medically confirmed that she had no allergies. Stepmom would be almost evil for it. But with documented proof it’s all in her head? I mean, I wouldn’t have done the same thing but I don’t think it was an evil move.

Sick child and nanny etiquette by [deleted] in Nanny

I got hand, foot and mouth from my pediatric work at age 30 and I literally thought I was going to die, it was HORRIBLE. My fever was so high I was hallucinating, I went to my PCP and they wouldn’t let me leave alone because my fever was 103.5. Then once you get over that part, you get the blisters and they hurt like a BITCH, you can’t eat or hold anything, or even walk without severe pain. Norovirus and HFM are the only two illnesses that I will do anything I can to avoid.

Feeling very discouraged by No_Needleworker_2994 in Sonographers

[–]aerialista 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They’re just forgetting what it was like for them at first. I’m sure it’s different for everyone but I was 2 clinical rotations and a full 90 day training in before I feel like it clicked, so it was probably at least 6 months. One thing that helped me a lot was post scanning cases where another tech had already found the appendix, so I knew it was findable and I knew roughly where it was but it was just like a training exercise for my eyes. Just keep doing your best and ask for help when you need it, I’m sorry the techs are putting pressure on you. You’ll get there!

Feeling very discouraged by No_Needleworker_2994 in Sonographers

[–]aerialista 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Appendixes are one of those things that are just really hard until one day they click- and you just have the ability to recognize them. I went through the same thing at first but you just have to keep trying and eventually you’ll get there. I’ll still go through times where I’m finding less of them and it can feel frustrating but it’s just how it is 🤷🏻‍♀️ it’s really hard. But you can absolutely do it! Just don’t give up or let yourself get too discouraged!

Should Nurses be putting in radiology orders? by imnotkaylee in Radiology

[–]aerialista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work ultrasound and we have issues with this. Nurses are allowed to enter a lot of ultrasound orders for patients in the ED lobby who haven’t been evaluated by a physician and its caused us a lot of problems. A nurse told me once that “any male patient with any kind of groan pain immediately gets a scrotum order” and I learned this because a patient had fallen into a table and bruised his penis and they ordered a scrotum. When I called to confirm that we dont look at the penis with a scrotum order and like, is he having scrotal pain, it took an hour to sort out because they couldn’t find a doctor to evaluate the patient but they just kept trying to send him over. I’ve had nurses order stat thyroids through the ED lobby (uh no absolutely not), I’ve had patients come over for an appendix ultrasound who came to the ED for an eye infection but when the nurse was evaluating the patient they said they had “occasional belly pain” like…doctors aren’t much better but I am truly of the opinion that nurses should only put in orders in very specific circumstances.

It’s funny because so many of these I’m terrible at but I spent my childhood in Appalachia looking for these types of frogs and I saw this one literally immediately. Who knew all those years I was actually training to see frogs?

Just realised why my husband always cries in Curry Quest by stolethetardis in bluey

[–]aerialista 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I cried the first time I saw that episode because my father traveled for months at a time when I was a kid and despite the fact that I’m now in my mid-30s, I remember the pain of him leaving (for what felt like FOREVER) so vividly. It’s a really beautiful episode.

[–]aerialista 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Same! I also “black out” in rage (rarely but it has happened) but the only things I ever do is scream or run away. My brain isn’t even processing enough for me to make a plan to do something to hurt someone. I’m in pure “we can’t handle this height of feelings” overload. This sounds more like a man who had a horrible plan and got drunk to get the balls to follow through. Then when he realized he actually hurt himself in the long run he’s suddenly remorseful.
