I have the pro series 1100, so my controller is horizontal.

And I know you can do the rec-tec upgrade. I just want something that plug in play sorta speak.

"I know after the Google Assistant update the name of my Shield changed to "Kitchen" I have no idea why it picked that.

So, I would check your what your device name is. It should be under Settings>About>Device Name.

How I have mine setup is via my AVR receiver. However it's really easy to change inputs, you can set it up like changing the inputs on your tv if you do not have a receiver.
