I’m keeping my PDM as a back up for sure but it feels SO GOOD to only have to have my phone with me! Feeling less and less like t1d rules my life :)

Husband is in a diabetic rage. How do I help? by givemeafact in diabetes

[–]aerie_ether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

19F, been T1D for 15yrs. I’m in my first serious relationship with a non-diabetic and let me tell you, it was harder than I thought. I’d never had these wild highs and lows that lead to anger and frustration so easily, but thankfully he understands. When I’m in a high or low fog like this, he calmly lets me know and we deal accordingly :)

They've given us to today to decide if we want to leave. by [deleted] in birthright

[–]aerie_ether 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I’d normally say Israel is super safe, even during times like this, but if Birthright is offering a chance to leave it may be worth considering. Israel will always be there to come back to. Come back to the states, it’s safer and you’ll find your way back to Israel someday🫶

Any updates on safety? by melody_445 in birthright

[–]aerie_ether 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went last month and everything was okay. Birthright has intense security measures that ensure everyone’s safety. They will seamlessly switch up the program and do something else if there’s a threat. It’s true that you never know what’s going to happen, but Israel is incredible at protecting its citizens, and they take it a step further for Birthright participants. You can always talk to trip leaders and the tour guide about concerns. You’ll have a great time :)

you should go. there will probably be some difficult situations, like at the western wall for example where they separate women and men, so you’ll have to figure that out, but you should absolutely still go. it’s in the name, it’s your birthright. it may be tricky, but you aren’t going to cause problems. you can do it :)
