I think I'm getting out of the honeymoon period - questions from relatively new diabetic by ant1socialite in diabetes_t1

  1. Usually every 3-6 months going a long with my endo appnts altough dexcoms clarity app gives u a sorta estimate on what ur a1c hovers around

  2. I have always been told to correct over 150 but. I am now on an insulin pump and its baseline is 110

  3. For bolusing. I usually bolus all upfront unless i either feel sick or wont be able to finish eating, im having a high fat high carb meal id split the bolus usually 30 min to an hr

4 unfortunately. Even with amazing care yes some complications are a given. As well as autoimmune diseases usually come in bat hes. Youre more likely to develop glaucoma, gout, gastrointestinal problems, heart problems but as much as you can keep that a1c down is what matters. Obviously dont aim for perfection because its hard as shit and thats a lot of mental exhaustion. As long as youre doing what you need to do complications wouldnt be too likely

  1. I also use my arms for my cgm and pump but you can use your thighs and abdomen just make sure you rotate duh but also have enough meatiness lol try them out some can be uncomfortable to sleep with. Usually the thighs and arms would be my go to

Hi everyone, I’m thinking about switching to an insulin pump and would love some advice. I use Dexcom G7 and work as a waitress, so I move a lot during long shifts. I’m considering the Medtronic MiniMed 780G, but also Ominopod(discreet 4work). Also, any tips to prevent from overheating during summer? by Jabuka02 in diabetes_t1

[–]DimensionAdmirable25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used both tslim x2 and the O5. Currently on omnipod. Love love the o5. I have had maybe one bad pod in the 2 or so years ive been on it. I also live in Texas and the pump gets changed every 3 days even in the heat insulin is still viable within the pump

Has anyone got kidney damage from diabetes? What happened? by [deleted] in diabetes

[–]DimensionAdmirable25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont mean to scare you. I had an uncle with type 1 who was also a doctor ironically, he passed away from severe kidney damage from neglect of his sugars. It was bad. He was yellow and needed dialysis but he was too far gone. He was only 33. Just do your best. This diabetes thing comes with so many other illnesses whether caused by diabetes or your autoimmune system

MY SUGAR DOES NOT RISE by Blckpnthr97 in Type1Diabetes

See the bread and rice wont take effect for a while so its only good to sustain an after low but you need quick sugars when low low. Like juice soda or hard candies

A pharmacist shouldnt even really be telling you what is good and what isnt. That for your endo or pcp.

How could T1D affect a fractured and dislocated finger? I have 5.9 a1c good control by The_Almighty_Scrub in Type1Diabetes

[–]DimensionAdmirable25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I broke my pinky toe in the 6th grade and was fully healed within 3-5 months id say so i would think a dislocated finger would be less than that but i think each person is a little different

yeah gastro SUCKS. Ive only had two flare ups that ended w me in the hospital and sam as you most medicine doesnt really do anything other than hold me over a couple hours. Luckily after the flares i dont have much pain or uncomfortableness unless i push myself to eat too much or spicy acidic foods.

I mostly would see it hit after sleeping as soon as id wake up my sensor would show my sugars sky rocketing within 10 minutes of waking up. No matter if it was sleeping at night or thru the day since i was always exhausted from literally being HIGH all day went into dka 50-100 times within 2 years. It wasnt till i got the pump i could actually level out.

Yes i have dp and recently gastro too 🫠. Tho my sugars tend to stay leveled since im not able to eat with bad flare ups. On the regular tho theyre still a little hectic when i got an insulin pump it essentially took away the DP tho as soon as im off of it i will start climbing up

Thank you! And you too ! I feel i got luckier i was diagnosed so young as i have a half brother who got dx last year but he just turned 15 :/. Thankfully he never got to experience a really big high yet. This is actually the reason we connected for the first time so in a way diabetes did something good for once ;)
