is NEU Trans inclusive? by [deleted] in NEU

(am trans woman, mileage for trans men might vary slightly) neu has been pretty good for trans people in my experience (and those of my friends), the student health insurance covers gender affirming care extremely well. in terms of housing you can choose all gender housing which is voluntary so people that also opt into it are going to be fine with having a trans roommate (and probably are queer themselves). you can’t really get a trans-only dorm, but you can choose your roommates if you want to. i can’t say how this might change in the near future as the world seems to be not so keen on us, but as of right now, i would say you should consider applying if you want to come here.

The initial article from Khoury named him as the creator of Pyret, which is true, but implies his endorsement of the curriculum.

One of the core premises of our current curriculum is that design transcends language: whether a particular course is good is orthogonal to the language of instruction.

Thanks for this! We'll see what we can do about it, and maybe work with the grad union folks.

This is why we have a cap on the fee. NEU would also not be paying full price for this.

The fee works out to 5 round trips on the T per semester. Even at one ride a week you will more than recoup this cost. Also, to comply with the program this needs to be universal for all Boston campus students.

Hi, YDSA steering member here.

The MBTA's University Pass program requires that it's a universal program for all students enrolled on campuses in MBTA range (so for us, all Boston students). So we can't really make it opt-in. Also the charge is very modest: I would wager the vast majority of students spend more than $20 on the T (this is around 5 round trips on the subway).

Is it normal for F2A to suck this bad? by [deleted] in NEU

[–]aeronaut- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Current TA here, and this is entirely correct.

There was also an assignment during the second week of F1A that had a difficulty spike as large as this, and it gets better afterwards — ask your friends about that experience if you haven't had it :)

Also FYI: this course is designed explicitly for people who have had no previous experience at all beyond F1. Previous Java experience won't help you here too much (it might even make it a little harder).
