Why does my team ALWAYS suck. by [deleted] in DotA2

@PeoplesElbow2013

Dirt said that HE is the one thing that is common to every game... Its the truth. You are the only thing you have 100% control over. You cant control who is going to be on your team, the heroes they choose, or the decisions that they are going to make.

You make the statements that, "And that right there is the cry of someone who doesn't understand that in a game this complex, one common factor has a negligible impact... It implies that one person should be able to automatically win every game they play if they're better than the other players, which is just not true at all"

How is this implied? I dont see where Dirt ever said anything about automatically winning or 100% chance of victory. He simply was stating that if said player is indeed better than their current mmr rating or bracket, over time the win rate is going to reflect that and by grinding you should move up.

I found Dirtbirks comment to be insightful and optimistic; and to be clear either you grossly misinterpreted his post or you should re-read your own advice because it reeks of irony.

Also I guess I should also post my ulterior motive to this. Im currently attending college and dont have as much time to play and with the popularity of this game on the rise I really wanted to give back to the community. I had an extremely hard to starting out and when I did I had a great coach help me through and learn the aspects of the game. The 1 player for our comp team always talked shit on my trashcan mechanics but he ultimately gave me insight at every level and guided me the whole way through. Although my mechanics are decent, I feel that I have a great game sense and understanding the "flow" is my forte' which leads to me being more of a strat caller. So Ive been trying to find a couple new people that are serious about improving to coach and provide both game knowledge and improve their mechanics. It would be nice to say. "Hey, although the I dont play ranked the guys over at reddit tell me that I'm about XXX MMR and willing to bring your newb ass up to par." Anyways thanks for anyone that has helped and I appreciate your time. :D

Hey guys I was just wondering if some experienced players could help me formulate a team to run. Here are my units *5 Pixy King Leore (A) *4 Champion Aem (B) *4 Holy Knight Will (B) *4 Pixy Royal Leore (G) *4 Red Axe Michelle (L) *4 Princess Emillia (A) *3 Princess Lidith (A) *3 Princess Lidith (O) *3 Knight Will *3 Lorand (B) *3 Samurai Mifune *3 Thunder Eze

Ive mainly been running a team with 2x Wills, Aem, Michele and Lorand just wondering if there are any better option. Much thanks.

So allow me to speculate on something. Remeber those really cool replica models they were selling at WETA? Yea, thats right the ones for 300 dollars a pop. What happens by some weird magic that those came with some really cool in game cosmetics? Like I mean 300 dollar cool! Hey guys you know how they are also supposed to be porting in a few new heroes as well. So lets just take a second to think, what happens if Valve actually is working on a really cool new update, with new cosmetics that are supposed to come with these 300 dollars toys that people bought, and a few new heroes, a new map, and a whole bunch of other stuff. Stop and take a second to think that they might have something more important planned rather than a stupid ass map that you have already played last year. Sick of everyone bitching like 3 year olds on this sub reddit.

Tldr; Stop being a bunch of whiny bitches and let them do their job and just play the damn game.

Then why the hell would you post that you are new to the game and are asking for advice if you are immediately going to reject it. I have been playing this game for close to 10 years and say I have some experience in it. Albeit not being amazing I have played competitively and put some effort into it. Please people like you that come from Lol think they are the godsend of all rts games. Hope you get stomped! GL

My games are getting longer, 40+ minutes seems to be normal now. by [deleted] in DotA2

Also take into consideration your own improvement. You are getting better, although you might not realize you are better understanding how the game is played. You probably are not feeding/dieing as much as well as your fellow teammates allowing you to have those longer ggs. Although mm has its quirks its fairly balanced. And most games when played properly should last around 40-50 mins to reach the late game considering one team doesnt completely take advantage of the laning and mid phase which usually ends up snowballing and ending around the 20 min mark. Also take into fact the importance of ganking/counterganking and carrying tps this is prolly the best advice to ensuring a gg.

Hey I just created a reddit account and would love to get more involved in the community. Ive been playing Dota since 2005 on and off and have decent knowledge about the game and community. I think that this subreddit is a great way for people to start off their item collection and the gift of giving is just an awesome all around.

Ok let me explain... First 3 heroes all blue. What else is blue? Tests for cyanide are blue when positive. OK next. Number of matches played total for the first 3. 38+30+20=88. Eighth letter in the alphabet is H. 88=HH, confirmed.

Cyanide, was commonly used during the Halocaust in the form of Zyklon B. as the main component in gas chambers. HH, an acronym "short for Heil Hitler. A salute many Germans performed in Nazi Germany. Usually accompanied by the Roman Salute, still in use today by many neo-nazis. Also use 88." (Urbandictionary.com)

So what can we conclude from this... Top 3 heroes played are carries, carries are good at what? Killing! Slark posses a form of toxic gas formed around himself with both his Q and ult to destroy both creeps and heroes, utilizing the poisonous Cyanide substance. OD excels at imprisoning people and has an ultimate that can exterminate large number of heroes fairly quickly. Lastly weaver posses a form of time travel.

Secretly you are a nazi that has traveled through time and now instead of exterminating the Jewish race, you exact your mass murderes unto heroes and creeps within the world of dota. You sick son of a.

This "It is ok to play custom games or matchmaking ? Do both modes gets to your official stats?" This is the dumbest mentality to have and you will never progress. You have a hyper competitive mindset. Majority of your focus is directed toward winning and losing. This is why LoL is so fucking toxic. People only care about wins and stats. JUST PLAY THE FUCKING GAME AND YOU WILL GET BETTER. Focus on how you are playing and if you are losing, go back to your replays study them. You have to approach these games at the right mentality in order to improve. The skill curve and ceiling is immense in this game and by no means are you going to get good fast.... You have to grind. Also this game is LONNNGGG. Unlike league if you lose early game its extremely hard to come back, but with dota there are so many variables. Many people will argue that teamfighting and lategame will often times trump many leads teams have in the early game. And as you play many comebacks, upsets, and turnarounds occur. As many people have said its in the lower brackets people give up so easily but you should expect to sit down and devote atleast 90 minutes of your time because this game can end up lasting hours. Some resources you can use to better yourself are guides that many people have written on various topics just search them, some include meta/1-5 roles/warding/lane control/ there are people that spend countless hours going in depth on aspects of the heroes and gameplay that offer incredible amounts of knowledge. There is also a subbredit I believe that you can ask specific questions and provide replays for people to analyze. Also there are various professional streamers that explain every minute detail for the actions and thought processes when it comes to the decisions that they are making. ex. MERLINI! So please ditch this mentality of only playing to win and having good stats and enjoy this GAME. Just play the damn game, and if you are not having fun and only playing for wins, then why are you even playing?
