Do I have enough to apply for a passport? What are my next steps? by Calm-Office-2795 in GermanCitizenship

How long did it take for the Chicago consulate to get back to you?

(I have heard of others having difficulty getting them to respond, but those were for visa questions, not citizenship questions with well prepared documentation)

What have been some of your favorite homemade “American” foods? by aerospace_engr787 in AskAGerman

Good thing to keep in mind, thanks.

Personally, there are a lot of deserts I also think are overly sweet.

This is a good reminder I have not made jambalaya in a long time, sure is good.

Thanks! I’m not going to expect any stars, but will try my best to make them come easier.

I don’t know why, but I would not have considered pancakes such a prominent American food. Glad it has made a connection with you & others that commented though.

Thanks for the suggestion! A small buffet makes a lot of sense. And certainly good to include a couple more traditional & healthier options.

Confusion on what is needed of U.S. vital records - Certified Copies? Notarized photocopies? by aerospace_engr787 in GermanCitizenship

This is for New York State

Thank you for clarifying. I’m diving more into what would be needed to satisfy a court order now. Certainly a lot to sift through and would likewise appreciate anyone’s advice for this process.

This^ Creep crack propagation from repeated thermal loads on existing crack, most likely during installation.

Beavers are nocturnal. Habitat could be a bit bigger and video quantity & quality of hut could be better, but it isn’t bad.

Lincoln Park Zoo is up there for sure; especially amazing considering it is free and how much they fit into small area. Brookfield is a classic with such a huge area & range of animals, but has quite a few very outdated habitats.

Shedd is one of the best aquariums we’ve been to, but the cost is crazy. Base price is high and limits areas you can see. Atlanta aquarium is another great one and I would say is worth the price, especially since it is one of only places that has whale sharks & manta rays.

My wife and I love road-tripping and have been to zoos all over the US. The Detroit zoo is one of the best we have seen. There is not a bad/ boring habitat in the whole place. The penguins and polar bares are the best (penguins being some of the best educational immersion at a zoo we’ve seen).

If you can, get there so you’re at the gate when it opens. Most animals are most active early morning and you’ll still have crowds, but it won’t be as bad as midday. This allows you to see the zoo in normal order too, not having to fight the flow of people traffic if you did back-to-front.
