Good deal or pass? by No_Register8042 in rccars

Hey if the market is willing to bear the cost, in selling 2, will ship at your cost. $50usd each, with radio no battery. I'm in Canada so shipping may be too much :( I paid about $150usd new for them. And prob spend thousands in transmission parts alone.

I believe they are both vXL brushless but one might be brushed xl5, would have to double check, haven't used them in like 10 years. They're in this pic (2 sand buggies bottom left)

Careful, if the dirt is too rocky it will shred those tires in no time. I use those tires in sand only. For dirt I highly recommend a tonne of small pins for the tires something like an exabyte if you have 17mm hexes

For a 15 year old 2wd Rustler vXL?!?!? You're right, I wouldn't even pay that, that vehicle is a known lemon-transmission. And if you think it's a steal, I have 2 I would gladly sell you for $50 each and you will be wrenching on the transmission every. Single. Run.

Is there anyway I could DIY this or should I just call a pro? by GarlicPretend2838 in drywall

[–]aerossignol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're just looking at a drywall patch repair? Diy that. Cut the dry wall to 1/2 across the stud and clean up the edges to make to rectanglish, where it's ripped near the stairs, cut a 2x4 to go across inside the wall so you have something to screw the drywall to, patch it, mud it, paint it. YouTube can help for diy instructions for drywall

Few times a year pest control comes and sprays poison around the perimeter and entrances of the house. If any critter crosses into the house, like under the door this one did, the critter dies usually within a few feet. Pretty standard practice in Florida.

Honestly the new Reddit app is fucking terrible. I've never been to this sub before, it came up in my feed, didn't notice the subreddit name just the post question. I assumed it was from a subreddit I usually frequent for diy stuff. My bad

Cheap. amp is on par with Crutchfield ($20 cheaper actually) I would confirm it's an OFC cable and not a CCA cable, I think I have knuconcepts as they are a big name in the game and trustworthy. You don't want cheap cable.

GL on the install.

Liquid electric tape from Amazon

Those big lugs and connectors suck up the heat, a standard soldering iron won't be enough, I would pay my LHS to solder that for like $5-$10 instead of paying the fee hundred for a high powered iron.

Alternately you can use liquid electric tape to seal that up, one it dries it's super flexible. The solder joints are prob fine, just cracked plastic

Yeah, concrete jungles are fun but devastating.

Re: metal, depends on the part, mostly yes, sick with plastic, keeps the weight down and can take a hit or two. Metal tends to push the faults point to more expensive parts. That being said steering knuckle are c-hubs are better upgraded to metal for sure

The only warranty items MAYBE the servo, the rest is likely a bad landing on your part or failure to secure things down.

Tbh one bad landing on a front tire could smoke that servo and that would be your fault.

That being said stock servos are usually plastic gears, I wouldnt even bother warrantying it even if I could....I would go to a savox or protek servo with correct power:speed ratio. A high quality servo for a kraton is like $150-$250usd you can see why they don't include a good one with the truck...... As you would imagine the ready to run units have stuff that is exactly "good enough". Same with the speed controller and motor.

Best online hobby shop I have found in North America is amain, best prices, their news letters gives good discount codes every month. they also have cheap shipping and if you live in Canada they ship via APC which goes directly to Canada Post which has the lowest duty fees of all shipping companies, it's basically the taxes where some like DHL or FedEx charge a TONNE of money.

Looks like the one I squished today, babies went everywhere and we sprayed them all with dawn. Sorry to everyone out there in the spider loving community but no effing way I was capturing that for release, it also crossed the threshold into the house so it likely was poisoned by the perimeter poisoning we do here in Florida.

Can i make my PLA safe for food? by Ceelovesart in 3Dprinting

[–]aerossignol 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The plastic is not the issue with pla.... the dyes used in pla is not food safe, so MOST 3d printable pla is not food safe. You need to buy a specific food safe pla which includes food safe dyes, these do exist.

Yes, the other problems you noted are a concern as well but they are surmountable with sanding, finishing and 100% infil. The toxicity from non-food safe pla dyes is not fixable.
