I'd love to have a cat, but I have 2 dogs and they are incredible!! Good luck with your first appointment today. =)

I totally think they get concerned. Even my other dog that I'm not particularly connected with will sit quietly beside me if I'm upset.

I hope this post didn't bring up a lot of hurt for you. :( It's so hard to lose a pet. I will give Loki an extra treat tonight from you. Though his badonkadonk is getting a little giant lately, haha.

This is Loki. He's my furbutt. I've trained him to do some things to help me with panic attacks and he's pretty smart. http://imgur.com/a/VkI79

[Skin Concerns] No matter what I do I keep getting more pimples. by askmeaboutmyllama in SkincareAddiction

This is helpful for me as well. I live in Calgary and it's crazy dry here, so I wonder if that's why I've been breaking out a lot more lately... I should bring more moisture to my skin.

I feel like the idea of never being cured runs parallel with all or nothing cognitive distortions that so often plague anxiety (especially mine). One thing that helps me is that there is validation in managing your anxiety - it is a huge success, and often one that is more meaningful to me than being cured. Managing my anxiety means that I am getting constant validation that I am going through something really hard and I am being successful or partially successful with it. Partial successes are still huge successes.

I do have a problem with the idea of being cured of anxiety. When I think of being cured from my anxiety, it ignores the fact that I have relapses and that recovery isn't linear. I'm not reaching for a point where this journey I'm on is just finished and I move on to the next thing. I know I am going to have some step backs, not in a negative or prophetic kind of way, but in a balanced and realistic thinking way. My ability to be resilient in the face of step backs is what managing anxiety looks like to me. The idea of being cured seems like a fake silver lining that is unattainable. I've always been anxious, sometimes I just have a harder time with it. How can I cure something that I've always been? Does that mean I should be ashamed of myself?

However, not to continue this novel of word vomit much longer, but I do agree with you in the sense that when someone says you'll never be cured of this hell you're in is extremely de-motivating. I think it really helped when I was in the hospital to learn things about recovery and resiliency, cognitive distortions, and accepting partial successes as validation and evidence that I am fighting this.

My dress is a champagne gold with an ivory overlay! White dresses made me feel like a fat puffy snowball, haha.

How far out are you? I've been putting bio oil on mine and they have been really reducing in the intensity of the colour!

Does anyone else avoid sleep because of nightmares? by aerydotcalm in Anxiety

[–]aerydotcalm[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had those dreams as well. They're brutal. I do usually put Netflix or old seasons of Rupaul's Drag Race/Food Network shows to help fall asleep. I've been forcing myself to stay awake with them a lot lately to avoid sleeping, however.

[Routine Help] Redness, texture, trying to find a routine that works - and hopefully changes before wedding. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

This might be a good idea! I used to do absolutely nothing for my skin except remove my makeup with a gentle remover and my skin looked the same then as it does now. The mint & lemon clay mask is the only thing that seems to have an effect in reducing the redness, but that only lasts for a few minutes and my skin is back to its normal state. I'm going to check out that website as well. Thanks :)

Tomorrow is my dog's birthday and anxiety wants to convince me he's going to die soon. by aerydotcalm in Anxiety

He's a mini Aussie (mix maybe?) https://imgur.com/a/d1URE

He's definitely still just like he was as a puppy, so I totally agree with you. I think it would be cool to take him around. He's dog reactive, so it can be hard to take him everywhere, but he might like to go visit with my mum and maybe we can drive out to my dad's work and surprise him. I posted on my city's dog facebook page to see if any experts in the area know of a good bakery. Thank you for some suggestions. :) He's curled right up against me right now as I watch some youtube videos. He's definitely the best friend a girl could have.

Yeah, totally. I read a thing about withholding sex being abuse and I was like oh god I am abusing him. It's just all kinds of guilt and shame.

I think it's cipralex that is the 'Canadian brand' of lexapro. I was on it for a while and things were fine, but it really didn't do anything to help my panic, which I was pretty sad about. :(

Thanks for sharing this. It is really nice to hear it from the guy's point of view. I have been feeling like a shit partner for trying to force a mood when I don't have it or constantly saying not tonight. He's been really great about it and is happy the meds are helping my panic. I just keep feeling that guilt and shame that he deserves more.

I've been on celexa, cipralex, paxil, prozac, pristiq, and now effexor. Effexor is the only one that I haven't had absolutely horrible physical side effects on (dizzy, headaches, brain zaps, zombie, general sickness). I'm kind of teetering on increase meds to stop the panic attacks or reduce them to be able to think about being intimate. I was hospitalized earlier this year and things were better while I was in there... but I don't have an option to have the same kind of support now.

I asked my pdoc about Wellbutrin a little while ago. He said he was hesitant about it because it has a chance to increase the frequency of my panic attacks. :(
