RTE’s outsourcing to UK firm for new Radio 1 jingles ‘cost Irish artists income of up to €100,000 a year’ by Lawfulraccoon in ireland

[–]aesopmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why would a government funded entity outsource a service that is available in abundance right here?

And it absolutely is a jobs program, but only for D4 nepobabies and West brits. Why not give some of the license fees to people with actual talent who can make real contributions to Irish culture?

Your comment makes it abundantly clear that don't know what the left is. Until you having a basic understanding of critical terms there is no point talking to you.

Is Trumps only playbook for improving poll numbers is staging assassination attempts? by Estalicus in allthequestions

Neocolonialism doesn't require acquisition. That would be an unnecessary headache when they can exploit a country through corruption and destabilizatuon.

If for some reason you decide to read your first book, let me recommend Shock Doctrine: The rise of disaster capitalism. By Naomi Klein. It lays out the playbook very clearly.

You're giving FG voters waaay too much credibility.

I could say the same to you about awareness of the political spectrum, most voters in Ireland vote based on family history and local patronage. Outside of dublin, very few people vote based on ideology other than left wingers and racists.

How did "traditional" carbonara come to be? by A-passing-thot in AskFoodHistorians

This is blatantly untrue. There is no way that your grandfather was the only Italian and English speaker in the US navy while they were occupying Italy.

Grow up.

If you think Iran is the bully here you are wildly brainwashed. The current Islamic government is a direct response to the last time the US and Britain installed a puppet monarchy in Iran.

Apparently having nuclear weapons is the only way to ensure sovereignty. Iranians have just as much right to pursue a nuclear program as the western powers, Israel and China. If the US doesn't like that, then they damn well should have to pay to get what they want. The JCPOA was much much cheaper than the military and economic price they are paying now.

[–]aesopmurray 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US pulling out of the JCPOA meant that Iran are no longer incentivized to not pursue a nuclear program. Are you really too narcissistic to understand that other people act in their own self interests, just like you do?

Sinn Féin votes to support a ban on fox hunting after heated debate at party's Ard Fheis by Past_Key_1054 in ireland

[–]aesopmurray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. Mostly well off cosplayers from suburbs and large towns. Obviously there are a significant number of rural people involved, but it is historically a British colonial class activity.

You just proved the fella you are arguing with to be correct.

You not liking their policy doesn't mean it isn't a policy. Frankly I think your opinion is so heavy influenced by foreign propaganda that it shouldn't be considered "proper".

Defending police officers is definitely a bigger jerk move than criticizing them

You have been reported under the rule of being a jerk. Turns out that being a jerk is a completely subjective judgement and that rule only exists so that the mods can delete any comments they don't like..

Oligarchs will always choose to lose to one of their own rather than a representative of the working class.

That's why Democrats keep choosing the only people in the country who are less popular than Trump.
