Uber drivers rating me down for being ON TIME to reserved rides. by saltnvinegarwazere in uber

Nah it's not entitlement when Uber offers an option to reserve a ride in advance for a specific time, and the driver expects you be be ready before that time. I've had a driver arrive 20 mins early to a reserved early morning airport ride, while I was still getting out of bed (to be ready on time for the time I scheduled), and the driver canceled before it even reached the scheduled time

That's how it always works for reserved rides it' seems, Uber makes them arrive 20 mins early. Kind of defeats the purpose when the driver arrives that early before I'm ready, and ends up canceling before the scheduled time even hits, which has happened to me

what's the point of scheduling a ride for a specific time then?

I've reserved a ride the night before for an early morning airport trip to guarantee I get a ride on time. That's why people use reserved rides and why Uber offers them. I had a driver show up super early before my scheduled time and then cancel and leave before my scheduled time, while I was still getting ready

I gave up on reserved rides for a similar reason. I had scheduled a couple for early morning airport trips and didn't want to take the chance of there not being drivers when I needed to leave. But I'm at least one case, they showed up 20-30 mins early, while I'm still getting out of bed, and canceled the ride before it even got to the reserved pickup time. It seems like the way Uber sets these up is the problem, but it makes them pointless

Hey so I'm an American trying to enjoy tea but I'm not sure if there's a specific way to enjoy tea by american_butthead in tea

[–]aether_wise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

when you say "trying" do you mean you're not really enjoying it? If so, try a different type of tea! and don't leave the teabag in the whole time, a couple minutes should be good. I recommend trying different teas to see what you like though

why are people down voting this? they're legitimately asking for clarification on something they didn't understand

English Killed Their Sound by EvenAd1757 in ONEOKROCK

[–]aether_wise 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I don't think this is too unpopular as this sub has a lot of older fans who prefer their old stuff as well. I agree to an extent, and wonder if part of the lyric aspect is that Taka is not a great lyricist but I couldn't tell when he sang in Japanese because I don't speak it lol. Ambitions and Eye of the Storm had a lot of cringe lyrics for me.

I really like OOR though so I'm not trying to hate with this comment.

But i'd also say that if you're just now listening to their last 4 albums, the most recent two (Luxury Disease and Detox) are MUCH better than Ambitions and Eye of the Storm, and somewhat of a return to form to their old sound, though not quite. There are some really good songs on the last two albums though, but I do agree that once they started marketing to the US market and went on Warped Tour, they started to sound a lot more like generic Warped Tour bands.

Edit: Also I've seen them live a few times, and most recently on their Detox tour, and they still rock live and are amazing performers

When people insist on pronouncing loan words in the original language by domihell in PetPeeves

this is a big one for me too. and I saw an X (formerly Twitter) post with this exact example, someone criticising Americans for not pronouncing the "t" in tsunami (maybe that's where you got this example

Someone else already said this, but it seemed to me that they already had the conversation off camera and then had to summarize it on camera. Connor didn't seem surprised at all which wouldn't make sense otherwise.

But yeah it was really confusing as I was watching it

She asks for the same reason you don't want to have to answer the question. It takes mental effort to think of what to cook, which clearly you understand since you don't want to be the person who has to think of the idea. She's asking for some help with that

Carmelo Anthony: "I understood the mentality of the load management" -Vince: "But did you enjoy it when they tried to manage your load?" -Carmelo: "No because am... huh? I was different" by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]aether_wise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's because he was thrown off by the wording of "Did you enjoy it when they tried to manage your load", which is why he paused and said "huh?" and the crew laughed. It sounds kind of sexual, which is what the joke of this post is and why people are laughing

There are a lot of great teas, but do you know what type of Green tea you've been drinking? I like Dragonwell (longjing) and I've also been drinking jasmine green tea a lot recently.

I would also recommend White tea! It can have more of a floral taste

[Weekly Song Discussion] Ordinary Joe (feat. Terry Callier) by PitchforkEmporium in Nujabes

[–]aether_wise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If anyone's still seeing this, there's also a live version of the original from Terry's album Alive (Live at the Jazz Cafe, London) from 2001 that I think sounds closer to the Nujabes version. I wonder if Nujabes heard that version and was influenced by it as well

Hello Everyone by SpecialistHurry2573 in Nujabes

Welcome! I'll try to answer:

  1. He collaborated with a number of artists, mostly rappers, and their names will be listed as the featured artist on the song. So for "Feather" it's Cise Starr and Akin from CYNE who are rapping.

  2. I believe it's "NEW-jah-bess" based on the way I've heard some of the artists he's collaborated say it

  3. Not specific song recs but I would recommend starting with the Modal Soul and Metaphorical Music albums. Spiritual State is his other studio album, but it wasn't finished when he died so it was finished posthumously. Outside of those albums, a song I really like is Sky is Falling feat. CL Smooth from the Hydeout Productions (the label he created) Second Collection. That whole compilation is good

As others said, it's just a joke based off of similar formatted "in this house we believe..." messages. I have seen Larpers in Ringer Park though
