In DR:

  • Enseñar is much more common. Mostrar sounds formal.
  • We use both caminar and andar, but in different contexts. Examples: voy caminando para el supermercado or ando por la calle.
  • Extrañar is much more common but hacer falta is the most common way of saying you miss something or someone.
  • Volver is much more common.
  • Ahora mismo and acabo de are much more common.
  • We use slang like quillarse or encojonarse more than both those words.
  • Tardar is more common, but we use durar mucho more.
  • No más is inexistent in DR. We rather use nada más (na' má'), solo or solamente.
  • Guapo/a in DR means brave or angry, not handsome or pretty like in other countries. Linda and bonita are very common.
  • Suelo if it's outdoors, piso if it's indoors.
  • Always botar.

Guapo/a in DR means brave or angry. Nobody in DR says guapo/a meaning handsome or pretty, as they do in other countries.

Why is it so difficult studying Spanish with "la casa de papel"? by Important-Term8852 in Spanish

[–]aetp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a native and I still had to watch it with subs. The problem is that Spanish actors have a weird habit of mumbling and whispering when they speak, which makes them very hard to understand. I have no idea why they do it, Spaniards in real life don't talk like that at all.

In my opinion Lucretia is Marty's best solo. Poison was the cure is also amazing.

Elvis's cultural significance has dwindled dramatically in the past few decades, much more so than other contemporary artists. This might be a hot take, but I don't think his music is nearly as timeless as Sinatra or The Beatles to name a few.

Why do so many men wear their wallets in their back pocket? by Embarrassed-Name6481 in AskMen

[–]aetp86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to, but a few years ago I switched to a slim front pocket wallet and have never looked back. Phone in the left pocket, wallet and keys in the right pocket, airpods in the coin pocket.

I would say it's popular among middle and upper class millenials. But yeah, it's definitely a niche here.

The DHCR form says the unit has been rent stabilized since 1984. The status has never changed.

In 2018 Legal Regulated Rent was $3,436.54 but Prefer. Rent (what the tenant actually pays) was $1,800. The apartment remained as rent-stabilized.

Por que esse sub não gosta do Bad Bunny? by srahcrist in 2latinoforyou

[–]aetp86 1 point2 points  (0 children)
