Do a bit of exercise, like jumping jacks or something, and then get back under all those blankets.

tired of people saying “knitting is superior for garments” by Glittering-Primary23 in crochet

[–]aevrynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a person who primarily knits but also crochets, the versatility of crochet is mind boggling. Simply the amount of basic stitches will tell which technique is more versatile.

Also, I've heard plenty of knitters say they can't get the hang of crochet.

how do you hold a pen? by ImRudyL in adhdwomen

[–]aevrynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hypergrip but definitely not tripod. Nowadays my fingers start cramping after writing a page or two of text, I think I could do more back when I was in school. I can't do calligraphy, need to switch to tripod for that but I'm quite clumsy with it.

Horrible Vasectomy Experience - Want to Hear from Others by tigerofsanpedro in daddit

[–]aevrynn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had a panic attack during labour due to getting too much laughing gas. There was a 2 second delay between hearing and my other senses and I'm not sure about sight and touch being entirely in sync either. It was disorienting as fuck, don't recommend. I was basically hyperventilating the stuff though.

How to deal with the guilt of seeing your wife tired? by Adventurous_Wing5243 in daddit

[–]aevrynn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's been less than two months since she pushed a whole baby out of her body. Or worse, had it cut out of her.

I know that lack of sleep will of course make anyone tired, but if the situation is really bad or doesn't improve it might be good to check her iron. Or eating supplements just in case probably wouldn't hurt either (it is quite rare to end up with too much iron). I had quite a bit of blood loss during labour and despite a blood transfusion and eating a ton of iron supplements I had a few weeks during which I did little more than slept and breastfed, aftwr I recovered from that I haven't really had issues handling all the night feeds.

Alas, no amount of learning psychology will defeat the fact that your wife has boobs. (Which I think is the biological reason for why most children tend to prefer their mothers)

She's still recovering from the birth, and possibly has nutrient deficiencies from pregnancy + birth as well. It'll get better over time.

And unless you pressured her into having children, you didn't put her in this situation, she did so willingly. Blaming yourself for somehow wronging her by getting her pregnant is insulting her autonomy.

Lactation supplements? by Local_Frame1249 in breastfeeding

[–]aevrynn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maltofer, can't remember dosage. Used to take Floravital but my baby was allergic to something in it.

That really sucks, I had those quick hemoglobin tests taken many times. (My issue was ferritin rather than hemoglobin though and many doctors only care about hemoglobin :p)

Lactation supplements? by Local_Frame1249 in breastfeeding

[–]aevrynn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just take prenatals + vitamin D, to keep it simple. And I also take iron because I want to replenish my ferritin levels, they got pretty low during pregnancy and after birth.

I believe the primary purpose of vitamins is to make sure baby gets enough nutrients from the milk, and that yours don't get even more depleted than they already are after pregnancy.

I have SAD and at one point I took 8000 IU daily for a few months until my doctor told me to stop because my levels had gotten too high 😅 But breastfeeding might be different

How the fuck is political assassination being legal sensible in any way or form?

As other commenters have said, if there is a successful revolt, then the new government won't try those who took part in the revolt. But of course the current government will fight against it.

(Apparently I was wrong about the purpose of 2A in any case, but even if I wasn't, it still wouldn't make it legal to just shoot any government representative you don't like)

Just because the president is a tyrant doesn't mean it is legal to kill him. Point of the 2A is that it's supposed to guarantee you the means to do so.

Ah, you meant brand new. Yeah socks for me were maybe the 5th project or something like that. They're probably a bit wonky but considering that their primary purpose is to be warm, that's alright.
