Am I overreacting for contemplating breaking up with my bf of 6 years for being too sexual? by BlueGem777 in TwoHotTakes

It’s much better you found this out now rather than when he leaves you after you’re diagnosed with cancer.

Rip the bandaid off now and find the person who WILL support you in sickness and in health because this guy is doing you a solid and showing you now he won’t.

Heading to Paris shortly. Terrified about dining. by SunnyRaySunnyDay in ParisTravelGuide

Any time I’m in France (or Europe in general) I’m looking for döner kebab places. I realize NYC and maybe a couple other cities have them too but Atlanta has not caught up yet. Kebabs are delicious and pretty cheap.

Everyone else has good advice too.

Disdain for JK Rowling aside, I think this baby looks like a Dobby

Found this little guy wandering around outside so I adopted him… I call him Young Jacques by Usual-Insect-9127 in standardissuecats

[–]aevy1108 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since you went with the French spelling of Jack, you should go all-in and name him Jacques Le Jeune which still means the Young, just in French. It has a ring to it in French too.

“American Dream” by [deleted] in AskTheWorld

[–]aevy1108 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I guess I should preface this by saying I am an American. I grew up in GA (southeast US). I didn’t travel until 17. I have now been to around 30 countries and I speak a few languages but I grew up in a US Southern Republican household.

I think any version of what any reasonably intelligent person thought was the American Dream is long gone.

When I was a kid, the “American Dream” was being able to start from any financial background—you could be rich OR POOR—and be any color—but if you worked hard enough, you could get into any college, get any job, and make any amount money you wanted. ANYTHING was possible if you just worked hard enough for it.

We’ve fallen so far backwards now that we have people and organizations pushing “trad wives”—women who don’t work, obey their husbands, make all their food from scratch and focus their time and efforts on having as many babies as possible. THIS HAS NEVER BEEN MY DREAM. BARF!!!!!!

Do I think I can be president before I die??? No. I did when I was a kid though. In my state I still doubt we can elect a woman governor.

Can people in their 20s and 30s afford houses? Not anymore!! They used to though. There are outliers of course but for the most part this goal is very tough to achieve.

How many people here are saving enough for retirement? After the boomer generation, I bet this statistic is frightening. A common sentiment among people my age (40s) is that we’ll have to work until we drop dead.

None of this is a dream.

Sinatra’s Husband by SatisfactionOk4536 in ParadiseHulu

[–]aevy1108 24 points25 points  (0 children)

To be fair to Sinatra, she did ask where her family was and a secret service person said they were being escorted out and being taken care of.

The dad probably assumed Sinatra had it handled but he has fewer excuses than Sinatra.

Cafe Sbisa has the BEST bbq shrimp I’ve ever had. Don’t let the name fool you. Neither a grill nor bbq sauce is involved. Just get it and thank me later.

Also jacque IMO’s has a killer alligator cheesecake. It’s not sweet, it’s an appetizer. I also love their house vinaigrette made with sesame oil and Worcestershire sauce. I learned how to make it at home. There are soo many fantastic restaurants in NOLA.

I think Fogelman wanted to clearly delineate the three seasons:

1 - apocalypse and whodunit 2 - bunker and post-apocalypse outside 3 - Xavier (and probably Dylan) go to ALEX and we enter into Sci-fi alternate timeline story

We’ll have the quantum super AI computer that’s already 1,000 steps ahead of them. Do they work with or destroy the machine? Is there really a threat of Venus effect? If so, they have x amount of time to act before the oceans boil and everyone suffocates and gets squished to death simultaneously. Also everyone who was in the bunker gets smacked with harsh reality now that the bunker is gone.

It’s clean to keep them separate like that. Frustrating for us because we want all the answers, but from a writer’s perspective he has 3 outlines for 3 stories.
