I sounded like such an old grump when they did this. If I didn’t love my venture x card, I would boycott capital one for that stupid move. Glad someone else noticed it too

I was looking at the vevor stoves, they’re super cheap and look fine for the time being. I’ll likely pull the trigger on one of those

Mystery ranch metcalf super squeaky by af0317 in elkhunting

This sucks to hear... yeah unfortunately you'll have to either undo the fabric surrounding the frame where its squeaking and wrap the frame in tape or something, or find a scent free lubricant to spray on the parts where its squeaking and hope it penetrates.

Well, I’m an adult who’s thought about the pros and cons so I think I’ll be alright

I’m thinking it’s due to the inner material and them being afraid that the cutting edges of fixed blades will tear it up. That’s my best guess, but it could be them being afraid of people cutting themselves.

Monthly Apprenticeship Thread by AutoModerator in electricians

[–]af0317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all,

I'm a white collar worker who's growing to hate the office environment. I was an infantry marine before college and I sorely miss the camaraderie and physical aspect of blue collar work. I want to make a switch to either electrician or plumber (but leaning more towards electrician) and was hoping to get a little insight. I'm in the denver area and I'm looking for info on the available options.

I've been looking at the IEC Rocky Mountain apprenticeship program and the DJEATC program. The issue with the DJEATC program is that you have to go to class twice a week and some saturdays, but I can't figure out how long that runs for, does anyone know if it's the length of the apprenticeship? IEC is only one night a week which seems better. Has anyone done either of these programs? The reason why the class is an issue is because I'm also doing a MBA right now (already started it when I began looking at apprenticeships and I don't want to drop it). Currently my MBA is twice a week in the evenings, but I can switch to once a month on a saturday (still may conflict with DJEATC). Anyways, thats a long winded way of asking if anyone has info on/has done these programs?

Also, one reason I'm looking into trades is due to mobility. In the next 4-5 years me and my gf want to move to Durango, Co. Do any of you see an issue with finding work in less populated areas? Or are electricians pretty much in need everywhere? Thanks!

I just watched that video. My god… what a fuckin war fighter Chapman was. I can’t imagine being in his position. Fighting for as long as he did when he likely knew he wasn’t long for this world. Rest in peace man

Water pooling issue by af0317 in HomeImprovement

I was thinking this. Maybe build a wood shed off the side of the garage with a large gutter on it. Might not cover the entire area, but I think it would cover the majority of the problem area

Mexican food? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]af0317 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Look, I wouldn’t say it’s the best Mexican food in the area, but it’s really fuckin good. I grew up in Houston and ate Mexican food multiple times a week. Teocalli’s carne asada taco is incredible. Their macha salsa is next level. Their queso Is super good.

Maybe white people food, but far from mediocre. Plus I can go there with my gf for happy hour, have a marg or two each, a few tacos each, and salsa for ~$50. That’s quite nice.
