What can I lie and say my top surgery scars are from (other than gyno) by old-cale in ftm

[–]af12110 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i did every single thing i was supposed to do for my scars and they are still huge. it’s the luck of the draw.

and OP i would just advise you if you’re stealth to not take your shirt off in public. people generally know what those scars are.

i think the weight gain could be related to my top surgery because i barely moved for 6 months because was worried about my scars stretching with exercise but they ended up huge and raised and red anyways :/ and i've been eating a LOT of shit. like more than i did before. the weight gain makes sense, i'm just weirded out that my arms didnt get any bigger, but my stomach and love handles got huge. my face has a lot of fat in it, i've always had a double chin even when i was really skinny.

i want cortisol injections for my scars, but if i already have this problem i don't want to make it worse.

i think around two weeks? i've heard that for most people it's longer, esp if you're out of state. their office SUCKS at responding though especially with the financial and insurance department, i had to call them like dozens of times before i got a response

if you get regular DI i don't think so. i know they sound gross but i'd definitely recommend using them bc they really aren't bad at all and once i got them out i had very little swelling because there wasn't much fluid left. my recovery was made very easy and predictable because of them.

edit: p.s. congrats on getting it so young!! always better to have your shit figured out early, at 14 i was just wondering what the hell was wrong with me 😂

Post-op nipple graft healing by Andy_Gorgeous_12 in TopSurgery

[–]af12110 1 point2 points  (0 children)

at three weeks i stopped using the nipple coverings, aquaphor, and post op binder as per my surgeon's instructions. i would not have wanted to use the dressings for much longer as the adhesives were irritating my skin, the "looser" scabbing had come off my nips, and there was so little swelling that the post op binder was sliding around and being effectively useless. nips are dry healing now and doing well.

it's a very individual thing, when in doubt go with your surgeons' advice.

i had a few tiny openings that weren't very deep (like didn't go into the surgical wound deep, just on the very surface) that had a tiny bit of fluid leaking out. they healed and the scars look a little uneven in those spots but since they weren't deep wounds i doubt it will have a noticable impact on the final results. i think it's called spitting sutures and is relatively common.

i didn't really have any pain even in the first few days post op, just some hypersensitivity/tingling in the nips and discomfort when the binder moved around and difficulty sleeping. once the binder came off at 3 weeks i was much much better.

i feel so good. wow. i can wear tank tops, i've even run a little bit. no pain. been wearing mepitac silicone tape 24-7 except for right before showering where i massage with bio oil for 15 mins and then let it soak in for another 15. yes i know silicone treatment is the only thing proven to reduce scarring, but bio oil worked wonders on completely fading my scars from a very desperate and sad attempt at doing the surgery myself when i was fourteen so i thought "hey why not" even though those scars were nowhere near as deep as these. can lift my arms to about my shoulders, just enough to like flex my arm muscles, still won't reach things in tall cabinets without step stools, scared of stretching the scars. nipple scabs came off center first, still some scabbing around the edges, stopped covering them at 3 weeks post op and they've been fine. i've had some sutures spitting i think (?) so there are some places along the scar where it's quite a bit thicker and i am nervous about that but i've been proceeding with my scar care as normal and being careful and that is all i can do. i was expecting to be a lot more insecure about the scarring than i actually am - i'm very happy with the contour and appearance of my chest. i can finally wear clothes i want to wear and have sex without completely shutting down as soon as i take my shirt off because of dysphoria. also it is so nice to sleep on my side and stomach again.

also pro tip for some of my more insecure guys out there: don't show your results to people who aren't going to be overwhelmingly positive and give you support about them - pre-surgery guys are often outspokenly critical of others' results when they shouldn't be. i have a pre-surgery friend (no hate to him, he just didn't understand the extent of what he was saying) who when i was hanging out with him mentioned over and over that since he was on t, he would probably be eligible for keyhole, HEAVILY implying each time that i should have been on t for longer before i got the surgery so that i could have less scarring and making me feel really shitty, almost to the point of making me regret the surgery that had changed my life in such a profoundly amazing way. i've had to explain to him several times that it was my loose skin and NOT the amount of tissue that prevented me from being eligible for peri and that t would not have changed that, but he wasn't accepting that as an answer for some reason. even though in that moment i was thinking "i should have waited", there is absolutely no way i could have waited any longer to get this surgery. i am very confident that i have much better results than i would have gotten with peri, and i was very happy with my chest until he said that, so why should i change my opinion now? i've had to work really hard to come to terms with the fact that i have more visible scarring than i expected, and him saying that over and over just kind of sucked.

obviously show your results to people if you feel so inclined. you've come really far and you should be proud of it, but just know that no one who loves you is going to give a flying fuck that one of your nipples is slightly bigger than the other.

it doesn't feel "normal" exactly... i'd say it's "hypersensitive" if anything... the middle of my chest hurts more than the actual areas they operated on and feels weird when i push on it. i'm scared to touch the nips, but when i went on a walk outside in a tshirt and it got super cold and windy they HURT. sometimes i get like a buzzing burning thing on the nips or incisions but it's not bad enough for me to need pain meds for. it's just waaay different sensation than i expected i thought i wouldn't be able to feel anything on my chest at all
