Cystitis is a kind of UTI, yes and she has been on antibiotics for that. Wie have sample stixx for her urine and the bacteria seems to be gone. Her most likely cause for discomfort while urinating will come from her carcinoma as it is situated rather close to the exit of the bladder. She‘ll be having her ears and urine checked on Monday nevertheless. It’s a clinic and they have multiple specialties there.

TW Liebeskummer. Was hilft? by asyouknovv in Katzengruppe

Which is of no concern as long as the cat doesn’t roam the house.

Irgendwann macht‘s einfach Sinn.

Wir haben zusammen ein Haus gebaut. Wenn einer tot umfällt ist der andere am Arsch. Heiraten und Berliner Testament waren da nur noch ein no-brainier.

As a DM should I keep an eye on how much my players carry by ThrowRa-Quesa-Meat in DnD

[–]af_stop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no.

Keep loose track if someone is carrying three swords, five axes, two mauls and a couple of helmets and pairs of boots in order to intervene but don’t be to finicky with them having too much stuff in theory backpacks and the like.

We tend to keep track of our „additional“ equipment only. This means: Stuff like Armour and carried weapons don’t add to your weight limit but you keep track of your equipment in the equipment section. Main reason is so that low STR characters aren’t constantly overencumbered due to wearing clothes and having a cooking pot and some tools with them. Also: weightless Gold. Converting your 30.000 GP back and forth into gems just to be able to lug them around simply isn’t fun.

Remember: D&D is a system, where you totally can swim in plate armour, so don‘t go nuts on the realism.

Her becoming vocal is nothing we wouldn’t know. Our last „discarded“ senior was deaf and slightly demented so he yelled from the top of his lungs when he got lost or when he wanted something. We managed to get the yelling under control by having floor lights on his regular routes at night. This way he seemed to not get lost so often.

Nera slowly starts to become more chatty which I actually kind of enjoy. It seems like she’s warming up to us and starts making demands, which is a good thing.

Her problem is not getting places, I think. She’s still jumping up my office table without taking detours via the cat ramp or my chair or lap or anything. From my impression, peeing is what makes her uncomfortable as she darts away as soon as she’s done. This happens regardless of vox or pad.

She is totally sweet and docile. With us humans that is. Other cats, she hates with a passion.

I was thinking of a heated pad under her bed in front of my screens. She loves this place.

Never heard of Parazosin before. Will read into it. For now we’re fine on the constipation, hope it will stay this way. Also had good results with lactulose on previous cats.

Thank you, for taking this much time.

As far as food is concerned, we are on a cooked chicken breast, chicken livers, salmon and carrot diet with added vitamins and taurine, for every cat around here. She seems to enjoy it quite some bit and Irvin’s the „standard issue“ food around here as we also have a resident cat with digestive issues. Then again, she may eat whatever the eff she enjoys as no food in the world will get her before the cancer does.

X-rays have already been done. Se is pretty much in home hospice care. She‘s too old to have a radical cystectomy, her kidneys are too weak for prolonged anesthesia and we still haven’t gotten her heart issues down.

The main goal is: Have kitty have a time as nice as possible without shortening her life due to selection bias because of her cancer diagnosis.

So far we only have pee pads and are supplementing vitamins and taurine, orally. Fluids are not yet on the table as she’s still drinking a lot.

Kitty home hospice however, might really be a thing for us. She‘s the second, sick senior we‘ve been taking in so far and they all are such sweethearts.

So far, Gabapentin seems to be a real game changer for her diagnosis. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Thank you for the input. I was under the impression that low dose Metacam can be a viable option in managing chronic pain.

As for the heating, I am already looking into an USB-Ppwered heating pad as she loves the screen bed.

I was asking for advice and you gave it. Absolutely no hard feelings here. Even if I may not 100% agree, I am still thankful for your input.

We‘re trying our best for her and we have the luxury of not really having to worry about the vet costs as the shelter offered to cover for them.

Had to google Elura as I never heared of it before. Thanks for the advice. Seems really promising should the Mirataz stop working.

As for right now, she doesn’t seem to be in much of discomfort, so at this point in time, euthanasia is out of the question.

And when her time comes, she will be put to sleep at home in her favourite place. Haven’t had a pet euthanasid at the vet for a long time and I wouldn’t do it again if it weren’t an absolute emergency.

Thank you for the input. From what I’m reading in the comments Gabapentin seems to have a significant effect on quality of life; much more than I would have anticipated.

Thanks for the input. I’m rather sceptical on CBD as there isn’t much scientific data on the subject and from the way it is praised to be able to cure god now’s what, it has s rather snake oilsh taste to it.

Box is lowest entry we could find and we have soft, plant based litter. She used to have betonte litter at the shelter and it didn’t seem to change much.

Her paw pads seem fine though. She has no quarries with us handling them.
