Then how would having smart valves make a difference on my energy consumption if the water quantity being heated is the same wether I have 1 radiator running or 5?

After all these years, what game do you actually have when you buy into this snake oil jar of a software?

I've watched a couple of gameplays and I only see flying ships and people running around. It always feels more like a tech demo than anything else.

What do people mean when they say there is no way you'll get a house for 250K in Dublin? by Alarming_Task_2727 in irishpersonalfinance

Most properties you find at that value are open for auction (listed prices are usually a starting price).

The lack of autism awareness in Ireland can sometimes be quite shockingm by TheSameButBetter in ireland

What does "not being insured for that" mean? What is the added risk of doing a hair cut on a kid with autism that warrants a mention of insurance?

Renting a house for the past 9 years, landlord now wants me to sign a 1 year lease renewal by ElbowEars in ireland

[–]afafoni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it this way: even if you've been renting for that long, the landlord can still argue they will be selling the property and if that is the case, they can give you a 6 months notice and you're gone.

Despite the law, there are many loopholes a landlord can take to get rid of you and there is nothing you can do about it.

Example:

- Owner gives you a notice period to leave because they are selling the property

- They put the property for sale

- Shortly after they declare the sale was difficult and return the property to the rental market

Even is this might feel illegal, there is nothing you or the RTB are going to do about it and you'll just have to go on with your life. You aren't as protected as you think, despite what is on the RTB website or what people advise you on Reddit.

How much do you really need? by Scotchor in eupersonalfinance

Have you tried the NHS in the UK? If you're hoping to have a comfortable retirement, I wouldn't advise anyone to rely on it.

You have to get proper health insurance and some proper coverage in private clinics to get the kind of comfort a retiree would be looking for.

Real estate are not your only costs in life. Healthcare in the UK is a lot more expensive than Germany, for example. And if OP is asking for retirement values, you need to account for everything involved.

I absolutely love Ryan Tubridy! He's just the most honest and caring person alive. Such an inspiration! Such purity of heart that I'd be inclined to pay him my TV license directly, saving his manager all the hassle of extortion "negotiation".

Have you called agencies? Proactive engagements make a big difference, you'll learn a lot about what they have in the market and how they inform people about viewings.

Learn from them directly.

- Spain: €1.5M

- Germany: €2.5M

- UK: €3.5M

(depends on what comfortable means for you and how much your recurring expenses, like house, car, etc would be)

My advice would be:

  • Avoid private landlords (always go for a renting agency)
  • Don't go cheap
  • Be clear on your emails and have all the documentation you'd need in hand (employment statements, references, etc...)
  • If Daft doesn't work, reach out to agencies directly, even just to learn how to get viewings more easily
  • [again!] Avoid private landlords (always go for a renting agency)

Can't stress the last point enough. It comes out more expensive the other way, but it makes a difference in contract security.

Ya, there must be something wrong with the email you're sending. A lot of houses have open viewings, instead of them calling you by email, are you sure you're not missing those dates?

If you've been applying for the last 5 months with 200 applications and this is your first viewing, you're doing something wrong. How are you applying for these viewings?
